Preschooler’s grumpy reaction to coming home from school is just like how we feel after a long day

Preschooler kids don’t really hold back when they speak. They simply say whatever comes to mind without thinking too much about it.

A preschooler lacks the filters that an adult has in conversations. Their minds aren’t developed enough to fabricate stories like older children and adults.

A video of 4-year-old Jude, tired and grumpy after school, has gone viral for its relatable honesty.

While the video was originally posted last year, those who watch it today can’t help but laugh as they can relate to the kid.

Jude’s reaction struck a chord with viewers, echoing the universal feeling of exhaustion and frustration.

“Listen. No, do you hear me? I’m cranky, I’m tired, I worked hard at school,” Jude tells his dad.

Amber Tinker, Jude’s mom, uploaded the video to TikTok, where it quickly gained traction, amassing over 16 million views and 1.7 million likes.

In the video, Jude, clearly uninterested in his dad’s antics, expresses his grumpiness with candid honesty.

Jude’s dad, Justin Tinker, playfully teased him about joking later, but Jude was too tired and cranky to engage.

Jude reiterated his exhaustion after a tough day at school.

As he mumbled something and headed towards a barn, his dad intervened to stop him.

“I’ve already got everything fed and watered. I already got the eggs, I did your job cause I knew you was tired,” Justin calls out.

Jude’s dad helped with his chores, yet Jude still felt ignored, expressing his tiredness and crankiness again later.

Despite his parents also being tired from work, Jude appeared the most fatigued.

He decided to take a bath that evening. The challenges in the life of a preschooler seem to be taking their toll on Jude.

Amber characterized the unplanned exchange as sudden, happening when Jude returned home from preschool.

She remarked that such behavior was typical of Jude, per Good Morning America.

“He’s just so unpredictable. You just never know what’s going to come out of his mouth,” she said.

The mother of four described her preschooler son as unintentionally funny.

While he enjoys playing jokes sometimes, she finds the funniest moments are when he’s serious, as he can sound surprisingly mature for his age.

Amber affectionately calls her 4-year-old son Jude her “wild child” due to his spirited personality and occasional bossiness.

Despite this, she highlights that he is a “great kid” who enjoys fishing and outdoor adventures.

Moreover, Amber wants to make it clear that Jude is content with his long blond hair, which has raised questions among social media users after the video gained popularity.

She mentioned they’ve trimmed his hair once, but Jude strongly prefers keeping it long.

Is it common for a child to fall apart after school?

Children often exhibit peculiar behavior, starting their day at school cheerfully only to return home and undergo a dramatic shift, manifesting in outbursts of yelling, whining, or crying.

This transformation is commonly attributed to exhaustion accumulated throughout the school day, said Understood.

Home, being a safe environment, becomes a space where children release their built-up emotions.

Many children find the experience exhausting.

This is true whether they are attending school in person or virtually.

This exhaustion is due to the demands of sitting still, concentrating, participating in class activities, and following rules, all while navigating social interactions.

While some children naturally develop self-control and coping skills through observation, others, particularly those with learning differences, may need explicit instruction.

These children may feel overwhelmed by school demands, especially if they struggle with certain subjects.

By the end of the day, they may lack the energy to manage their emotions and may not even recognize their feelings of being overwhelmed.

However, there’s a positive aspect to this scenario.

Children often feel safe expressing themselves at home, where caregivers provide love and support to help them regulate their emotions, regardless of their behavior.
