If you are a wine lover, then you should definitely visit this place in Portugal where you can partake of this delicious beverage – and if you’d like, sleep inside a wine barrel.

Quinta da Pacheca in Duoro, Portugal offers guests a stay in their oversized barrels located meters away from the 280-year-old wine estate in the surrounding area.
Each 30-meter wine barrel is equipped with a circular bed, private wardrobe, a bathroom with a walk-in shower, skylight windows, and a private terrace. No need to worry about the heat as every unit is fully air-conditioned. A Wi-Fi connection is also fitted for those who can’t afford to go off the radar.

The barrels are made of pine-wood and were designed by property owners Paulo Pereira and Maria do Céu Gonçalves. The suites are exact replicas of the ones used at the estate.

Guests don’t need to be confined in the cabin, as they can explore the 140-acre working vineyard and taste the wines themselves. They are offered in red, white, rose, and port varieties.
According to the Quinta da Pacheca website:
“In an idyllic and romantic setting, Wine Barrels will provide you a unique experience of contact with nature and the monumental reality of the Douro Wine Region.Unique moments of rest await for you in an environment of rurality.”

You wouldn’t have to leave the estate to get food, as they have an onsite restaurant that offers guests local wine and other locally-sourced products such as jam and olive oil.

An overnight stay in one of the wine barrels would cost €190 ($215) or €205 ($232), with breakfast included. But if you’d prefer something more conventional, you can also book a stay in The Wine House Hotel where normal bedrooms are available.
