One of the things that makes you feel it’s the holiday season already is definitely the Christmas Tree. Growing up, we used to look forward to the setting up of the Christmas tree in our living room. It’s the gathering place where many happy memories were created. Did you know who started the Christmas Tree tradition?
Here is a brief history for you:
“Germany is credited with starting the Christmas tree tradition as we now know it in the 16th century when devout Christians brought decorated trees into their homes. Some built Christmas pyramids of wood and decorated them with evergreens and candles if wood was scarce.
It is a widely held belief that Martin Luther, the 16th-century Protestant reformer, first added lighted candles to a tree. Walking toward his home one winter evening, composing a sermon, he was awed by the brilliance of stars twinkling amidst evergreens. To recapture the scene for his family, he erected a tree in the main room and wired its branches with lighted candles.” [source: HISTORY]
We all get excited planning how to decorate our Christmas Tree, but this woman’s family I think took it to a different level. It actually has a small village and you can even see Santa climbing, how did they do that?! Just watch the video below and be mesmerized!
