Cats are one of the sweetest creatures to ever walk this earth. They are viewed as aloof animals most of the time, but the people who believe so couldn’t be more wrong – and this shelter cat just proves that.
Meet Lou, a shelter cat that has been waiting for a forever family that he can smother with love and kisses. The cat has been staying at Lorca Animal Shelter in Spain, and the staff describes him as a “docile” and “affectionate” cat. Still, despite these positive qualities, Lou hasn’t had any luck in being adopted.
But all this changed when fate willed him to meet Isa Gonzales Asensio, a mom to a 14-year-old girl with special needs named Laura. Her daughter was born with a rare hereditary blood disorder, and it greatly affected her neurological and physical development.
Isa had been searching for a therapeutic pet that can provide comfort to her daughter, and when she saw Lou the shelter cat, she felt that he would be the perfect companion for Laura.
Isa decided that he was the one and she took the cat home.
The doting mother was there to videotape Laura and Lou’s first meeting, and it is one of the most heartwarming videos that you will ever see.
Within a few hours of knowing each other, it was evident that the two would soon become the best of friends – it was love at first sight! The 30-second footage shows the cat cuddling with Laura, obviously feeling content and happy in her arms. From the clip, one can tell that Lou is relieved that he has finally found a family after waiting so long to have it. Laura is seen smiling from ear to ear, clearly grateful for the gift of a new furry friend that will shower her with love.
The shelter saw no reason why no one would adopt Lou, but when the employees saw the sweet clip, it all made sense to them.
The shelter shared the video of Lou and Laura’s first meeting on their Facebook page and wrote:
“We didn’t understand why Lou couldn’t find a family, being such a docile and affectionate cat. Now we understand everything. He was waiting for Little Laura, that is the name of this wonderful angel, and her mom Isa. Thank you Isa, for opening your heart a little more and giving this opportunity to Lou.”

What appeared as a setback wasn’t one after all. The delay was just a part of a series of events that would lead Isa to Lou, and ultimately, would lead the cat into the loving arms of his forever best friend.
