His performances are often memorable, showcased in well-developed stories where he collaborates effectively with the production team.

Meanwhile, a fan posted on Reddit about meeting Alan at a convention for the sci-fi comedy.

However, she was too nervous and missed her opportunity to explain how important the show was to her during a difficult time.

Feeling upset and embarrassed, she made a throwaway Reddit account to share her feelings about what happened, Upworthy noted.

“I went to Fan Fest Boston and met Alan on Saturday,” her post began. “I wanted to tell him that ‘Resident Alien’ was the first show that made me laugh after my husband died this winter, that it helped me to feel human again, and I wanted to thank him for that.”

But the fan who made the post noticed Alan’s fatigue and the long lines of fans waiting to meet him.

Feeling unable to speak without crying, she stood awkwardly and joked about his earlier show, “Firefly.”

Afterward, she regretted not expressing to Alan how much his work had impacted her and helped her during difficult times.

“I know he probably wouldn’t care and he would forget by the end of the day so I’m not sure why it’s bothering me so much, but I just really wanted to say thank you.” the post concluded.

However, the “Resident Alien” star found out about the post online and replied thoughtfully.

“My friend sent me this. Sorry you feel like you missed your opportunity,” Alan posted. “I have read your message.”

Alan added that he appreciated her strong connection to the show and felt sorry for her loss and he was touched to hear she is finding happiness again and felt honored to be part of that.

The “Resident Alien” star also mentioned that stories like hers reminded him that his work has a meaningful impact beyond the glamour and challenges of Hollywood.

Alan invited the fan to meet him the next day to thank her personally.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t make it because it was her children’s first Father’s Day without their dad, and she needed to be there for them.

She pledged to return to the convention next year to meet him and share her story.

She ended her touching post with a fitting quote from “Resident Alien.” Tudyk’s character, Harry, says:

“Everyone needs to belong to something bigger than themselves. Yes, there is strength in numbers, but maybe it’s simpler. Maybe humans just feel better when they know they are not alone on this earth.”
