If you have watched the films of esteemed actress Kathy Bates, especially her characters in ‘American Horror Story’ and ‘Misery,’ you may have already ‘developed hostility’ for her. That’s how great she is in acting!
But on her performance in Paramount Network’s Lip Sync Battle (LSB), it’s a different story— Kathy’s not holding a hammer, nor is she scary like the roles she play in movies; she showed off another side of Kathy Bates, the side that is also amazing when it comes to singing and dancing; a side that no one has ever seen before.

The 70-year-old Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globes’ award recipient surprised everyone as she turns her swag on for Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic smash hit “That’s What I Like” in LSB. She went head-to-head with “Disjointed” co-star Tone Bell.
Dressed in leopard print shirt and a gold medallion chain, Kathy let out her inner gangsta and danced well to the beat and knew all her lyrics like the total expert that she is, which leaves the audience roaring with excitement and delight.
Surrounded by hot back-up dancers in silk pajamas, Kathy grabs and opens a rock strawberry champagne and strokes a Cadillac, true to the song’s lyrics.
Kathy’s style during this challenge was very natural on stage—the way she danced and acted. We all know now that the actress is one hell of a dancer who always knows how to keep the crowd entertained. Her moment in LSB was hilarious, as well as inspiring for someone her age, the multi-talented actress still knows how to get down and have fun.
On the other hand, one of the show’s hosts LL Cool J couldn’t contain himself; he was seen laughing and enjoying the rendition of the Grammy-winning song with the American Horror Story actress’ opponent, Tone.
The show’s commentator, Chrissy Teigen, was also impressed by Kathy’s performance. She exclaimed that her foot slide has become her favorite LSB moment ever, “I finally have an answer when somebody asks me—which is always—’What’s your favorite LSB moment ever?’ It is you on that stage, doing that foot slide.”
In the end, it was no surprise when Bates won the challenge. After receiving her LSB belt, she admitted that she didn’t know she would be receiving a commemorative belt, “I don’t even know what to say. Seriously. Because I didn’t know this was part of it. And this feels really good.”
According to live+same-day posted by Showbuzz, the episode featuring “Disjointed” stars Kathy Bates and Tone Bell was actually the most-watched LSB episode since the live Michael Jackson-themed special last year, January 18. Bates and Bells’ LSB episode drew a 0.27 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 0.63 million overall viewers.
