What happened when a couple surprised wedding guests with rescue puppies in need of a home

A couple’s cocktail hour became a joyful scene filled with rescue puppies.

Nicole and Brandon Case surprised their wedding guests with adoptable dogs, creating a wedding surprise no one would forget.

The celebration occurred at The Rotunda at Lauxmont Farms in Wrightsville, Pennsylvania. Instead of a traditional cocktail hour, guests were greeted with wagging tails and playful barks, turning the event into one of the most unique wedding ideas of the season.

“This is something I have always dreamed of,” Nicole tells PEOPLE. “When I curated my wedding Pinterest board when I was younger, it was filled with lace, twinkle lights, and puppies!”

Rescue puppies steal the show

The Cases teamed up with Outcast Rescue, a nonprofit foster-based pet rescue, to bring several puppies and one senior dog battling a terminal illness.

On the grassy field of the venue, family, friends, and even staff members eagerly lined up to give the dogs belly rubs and cuddles.

Nicole later shared that almost everyone reacted with laughter, saying they were “in trouble” because they knew they’d fall in love with the pups.

It wasn’t just the guests who lit up with joy — the staff at the venue also couldn’t resist the furry surprise.

The animal adoption effort quickly became the heart of the celebration.

Outcast Rescue captured the moment on Instagram, writing, “Guests sipped, snuggled, and fell head over heels for these furry guests of honor.”

Many of the dogs had come from difficult beginnings, including a litter abandoned in a box when they were just days old.

The rescue team bottle-fed them until they were strong enough to find new homes.

Wedding surprise with a purpose

The unique celebration led to more than smiles.

Guests gave donations to support the care of the animals, and a puppy named Mini found her forever home during the event.

Even more moving, the oldest bulldog — the terminally ill senior — was adopted by Nicole’s boss, a veterinarian at the hospital where she works.

The couple later shared that the dog is now happily spoiled and living his best life.

For Nicole, the moment carried deep personal meaning. She has dedicated her life to pet rescue and animal adoption as a veterinary nurse.

She and Brandon wanted to honor Lucy Loo, their first rescue dog, who had passed away before the wedding.

“In lieu of wedding favors, and in memory of our first rescue dog, Lucy Loo, we made a donation to the rescue and asked them to come with dogs that needed homes,” Nicole explained.

To make the gesture even more personal, they set up a bar cart filled with individually wrapped treats for guests to bring home to their pets.

Nicole said the idea perfectly balanced honoring Lucy, helping needy animals, and spreading extra joy during cocktail hour.

Wedding ideas that make a difference

The staff at Lauxmont Farms said they always admire couples who can personalize their weddings meaningfully.

“We believe your day should reflect you, couples are free to bring in the people, services, and even causes closest to their hearts,” the venue team shared. “Like Nicole and Brandon, who surprised their guests by partnering with a local dog rescue who brought adoptable puppies to cocktail hour, because let’s be honest, puppies pair perfectly with cocktails.”

By mixing celebration with compassion, the Cases created more than a wedding surprise — they inspired others to see how wedding ideas can support causes close to the heart.

Their choice to highlight pet rescue and animal adoption made their day unforgettable. It gave dogs a chance at a better life.

Rescue puppies leave a lasting legacy

What started as a playful twist on tradition became a powerful reminder of love and kindness.

With rescue puppies at the center of the celebration, Nicole and Brandon gave their guests laughter, joy, and an experience they’ll never forget.

More importantly, they showed how a wedding can become a platform for animal adoption and pet rescue.

Donations were raised, families applied to adopt, and a senior dog found comfort in a new home.

For Nicole, who once dreamed of a wedding with “lace, twinkle lights, and puppies,” the day was everything she hoped for — and for the rescue puppies, it was the beginning of new lives filled with love.
