A heartfelt wedding serenade added a special touch as Refugio López and Barbara Zwigart exchanged vows on April 26 in Riverside, California.
Surrounded by 50 close friends and family, the couple’s intimate ceremony was filled with emotional moments.
One of the most unforgettable scenes unfolded during their first dance, when the groom’s young nephews, ages seven and five, took everyone by surprise by singing the couple’s chosen song.

TikTok captures the surprise performance
Rosario López, sister of the groom, shared a heartwarming clip on TikTok that showed her sons delivering the surprise serenade at their uncle’s wedding.
In the video overlay, she wrote, “POV: Your boys sing their tios first dance 🫶🏻❣️,” capturing the emotion of the performance.
She followed up with two more clips of the duet, including one caption that read, “The love my boys have for these two is so special they wanted to make their wedding day special with this surprise ❤️🫶🏻.”
Rosario told PEOPLE that the wedding serenade was completely her sons’ idea.
During a casual car ride with their uncle, the boys suggested the song “Die with a Smile”. They quickly committed to performing it at the wedding.
At first, the family assumed they were just being playful. Still, once Rosario heard them practicing at home, she realized they were serious.
How the wedding serenade came together
Emmanuel and Emiliano selected “Die with a Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars after frequently hearing it on YouTube Shorts.
They thought the song was “cute” and felt it was perfect for their uncle’s big day.
Rosario said her sons spent nearly two months preparing.
“I would play it every single day on our car ride to school,” she said. “I even recorded the youngest one practicing for the big day. Weeks prior, he did not want to even give us an insight. He kept on saying, ‘It’s going to be a surprise.’”
On the wedding day, both boys were excited and ready to perform.
Rosario remembered asking if they were prepared, and they confidently answered, “Yes.”
As the moment drew near, they repeatedly asked, “Is it time yet?”
Though nerves set in for Emiliano just before the performance, he reassured everyone, saying, “I’ve got this.”
Dressed in matching black tuxedos and Converse shoes, Emmanuel and Emiliano, who had also served as ring bearers earlier, stepped up to the band’s setup, borrowed a microphone, and began their wedding serenade.
They sang “Die with a Smile” together as their uncle and new aunt danced under twinkling lights.
