The best 5 positive attitudes you need to become successful in life

From the time that we have learned how to put our thoughts into words, we have been asked what we would like to be when we grow up.

Some of us answered with becoming a professional in our desired fields like to be teacher, a policeman, a fireman, an attorney, and a doctor…

But whatever profession you desired to take, certainly you want to become successful.

Whether you are a 40-year old starting a business, or a 20-year old starting out adulting, these 5 tips from ‘successful’ people will surely help you achieve your own kind of success.

[1] Embrace your failures and never look back in regret

J.K. Rowling, the author of the all time best-selling Harry Potter Series, does not keep her failures in secret.

The author who has sold over 450 millions of her books and has a net-worth of over a billion of dollars, was rejected 12 times by dif

ferent publishers. But did she let these rejections stop her from achieving her dreams? No.

“You will fail. That is inevitable. It’s what you do with it. J.K. Rowling shared in an interview how looking back, it would have helped her a lot to know how normal it is to fail and that even successful people experience it.

Even the mother of the Virgin Group founder and chairman believes that we should never look back at our experiences with regret.

Living by his mother’s teaching, Richard Branson shared in an interview that instead of wasting our invaluable time dwelling on our failures, why don’t we transform regret and channel its energy into starting a new project? After all, just as he says, a setback is never a bad experience, but a learning curve.

Just like J.K. Rowling, Richard Branson, and people with their own share of success, you will experience failure and rejection.

It is normal to be disappointed about it but what you should not let it discourage you from chasing after your dreams.

Let your failures be your life’s greatest teacher. Just like what the founder of Ford Motors once said, “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.”

[2] Be open to accept any kind of job but never stop learning

Melanie Whelan, a woman who experienced working with Starwood Hotels, Virgin USA, and Equinox before taking in charge of SoulCycle’s business operation as its CEO, believes that fresh graduates should forget what they think is expected of them and rather get to work.

As the saying goes, where you are planted, you shall bloom. Whelan believes that as long as you work hard and put your heart into it, you will learn a lot from your job regardless of its nature.

“Raise your hand for anything anybody asks you to do… Whelan shares that when you work hard and at the same time, learn as much as possible, good things are bound to follow.

[3] Consistently upgrade your skills.

According to Tony Robbins, learning important skills, especially skills that you do not have yet, makes you invaluable to the company.

The more skills you have, the more things you can do for the company, co-employees, and clients, you will have an irreplaceable value in the market.

Just like how smartphones get better year-by-year, do not be complacent with yourself. Attend seminars, take online classes, share your skills with people you know in exchange for theirs. Make yourself invaluable, build and upgrade your skills.

[4] Learn that it is okay to relax.

People who have set their mind on chasing after success often tend to overwork themselves, experiencing unwanted burn-out. Taking a rest from time to time is highly recommended by people of success.

According to the successful CEO of Goldman Sachs, a multinational investment bank and financial service company, Lloyd Blankfein, it is just as important to chill-out. Allotting time to relax your mind and let yourself indulge with some fun in order to last.

Observing a common principle in sports, he believes that the looser you are, the further the thing goes. After all it is a lot easier to whip around a string than a stick.

Also, at the end of the day, being tight or following a strict rule do not guarantee success.

The co-founder of The Huffington Post and the Thrive Global, Arianna Huffington, supports Lloyd Blankfein’s recommendation. She believes, too, believes that burning yourself out is not the price in order to afford success.

She shared in an interview how she much she wishes to be able to tell herself to give time to unplug from stress and recharge and renew oneself. She thinks that giving yourself the time it needs to recuperate from the daily stress actually improves one’s performance.

[5] Never ever give up.

No one became successful overnight. Those who people look up to and deem as successful also had their own fair share of doubts, disappointments, setbacks, and challenges, which they have decided to triumph over.

All of us will face numerous rejections, we will surely feel tired, but one must not give up. Rest but do not give up nor forget about your dreams.

Jack Ma, founder of Alibaba and also the second richest man in China, has a strong conviction that though present day nor tomorrow is filled with difficulty, the day after tomorrow will come and it would be very beautiful.

If Jack Ma took all of his disappointments he had experienced, inside her heart, he wouldn’t be able to turn his dreams into reality.

Although there are no secret nor fool-proof ways to achieve success, STILL, the recommendations mentioned above are practical and make a lot of sense. Are you ready to take your success by its horn?

Follow the tips and recommendations provided by successful people of their own field, and begin building and strengthening your happiness.
