A video of Marirose Powell singing Stevie Nicks’ “Landslide” song one final time before her death has gone viral on TikTok.
The emotional performance, shared by her daughter-in-law, has touched millions of viewers.
The song held deep meaning for Marirose, making the moment even more poignant.

“She was the most loving and generous person in the whole wide world,” Sam Xenos tells PEOPLE of Marirose, her husband’s mom, who died on April 10 from breast cancer.
On the day the video was recorded, Sam shared that her mother-in-law’s friends brought their guitars and asked what she wanted to play. She chose the “Landslide” song and sang it one final time.
In the clip, 62-year-old Marirose sings in bed at her home in Stockton, California, where she is in hospice care.
A longtime singer-songwriter and lead of a Fleetwood Mac cover band, Marirose’s voice is strong despite a slight catch as she sings, “I’m getting older too.”
“My mother-in-law performed as Stevie Nicks for decades,” Sam wrote on the TikTok video. “This was her final performance before she passed the following week.”
Sam told PEOPLE that the clip shows Marirose’s last chance to sing with her own voice.

She explained that they sang to her mother-in-law outside her window, and Marirose knew it was coming.
“I felt like she held on for that moment,” Sam added. “And even when she couldn’t talk, her friends would rally around her and just sing to her.”
Marirose, who was an ER nurse and released three albums, first had breast cancer in 2021.
She went into remission, but a scan two years later showed the cancer had returned.
Her daughter-in-law said the family had only six more months with her after that.
In her TikTok post, Sam wrote that she always wishes they had more time with Marirose.

She noted that her mother-in-law was the only person she knew who left others better than she found them.
“Until we can be together again, Mama,” Sam added.
In her obituary, Marirose is remembered for her “infectious smile” that consistently brightened anyone’s day.
She was also known for her incredibly kind soul and generous heart, which left a lasting impact on those who knew her.
Marirose would have been excited to see her performance, now viewed almost 4 million times.
Sam had suggested posting her music on TikTok, and as the videos gained popularity, she shared more performances.
“So I started posting more of her stuff. And I just remember sitting there like, ‘Oh my gosh…they love you,'” she said
Sam says Marirose, who always put her family first, deserves the love the clip has received.
She adds that her mother-in-law was unique in making people feel truly seen and bettered by knowing her.

“Everybody is now seeing that through a 30-second video,” she said.
Commenters praised Marirose’s performance of “Landslide,” with one saying it might be the most touching version ever.
They hoped Stevie Nicks would see the tribute and noted how heartfelt her song choice was.
Nicks wrote “Landslide” in Aspen, Colorado, at 27. In an interview, she shared that she felt old and tired from working as a waitress and cleaning lady. She was also struggling in her relationship with Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham.
She composed the song while looking at the snow-covered mountains, reflecting on her life.
“Landslide” was part of Fleetwood Mac’s second self-titled album, the first to feature Nicks and Buckingham.
This song played a key role in making the album one of Fleetwood Mac’s greatest.
