“It is always a blessing to learn the wisdom from elderly people.” — Lailah
The Garden View Assisted Living in Iowa decided to celebrate the back-to-school season together with their elderly residents. They invited some of their beloved residents to join them in a simple but fun photoshoot. Afterwards, they uploaded the now viral photos on their Facebook page and won the hearts of people.

The school year has officially began and traditional first day of school photos have flooded social media sites. But who said that customary back to school photos are only for students? Definitely not the creative staff behind the Garden View Assisted Living!
“We are LOVING all of the wonderful “Back to school” photos, so we thought we would create our own! #youngatheart #lifelonglearners” The retirement facility happily shared on Facebook.

All smiles, the elderly residents held a white board that shows personal details such as their name, age, and class year. But what captivated the internet is their piece of advise and gentle reminder for the students of this generation.

As the saying goes ‘…it is wiser to learn from the experiences of others.’ Certainly, we can always learn a thing or two from the people who have far more experience like our old folks!

The residents have words of wisdom to share with the students today. And though they are a bit different from one another, most stressed the importance of hardwork. Some of them also encouraged the students to work hard and ultimately, savor the time they spend in school.
The heartwarming photoshoot went viral and reached more than 40,000 shares. A lot of Facebook users expressed their positive thoughts about the unique back-to-school photo-shoot.

“What a beautiful and wonderful idea! I loved reading all of their advice. Thank you for sharing this with us!” A Facebook user said, expressing her delight over their insightful words.
“This is WONDERFUL! I as a teacher have saved your post to show to my students.” A Facebook user said, sharing her plan. “Thank you so much to all of the participants for their sage advice! Thank you to the staff at Garden View for making sure the residents are happy and well-cared for.” She added.

“This is fantastic!” Another Facebook user exclaimed. “We have so much to learn from [the] generations that come before us! Thank you for doing this! And BTW… None of you look the ages on your signs!”

“You all have no idea how happy and proud this makes us! Every single day we are blessed to experience these amazing relationships…” The Garden View Assisted Living expressed on a follow-up comment days after their photoshoot went viral.

“And we are floored that in one post you all can see how happy our tenants are and how much our staff love being a part of their community…. #breakingtheinternet #withloveandsmiles” The retirement facility added, happy that their warm and caring community translated from the photos.
