Pizza delivery driver goes the extra mile to help elderly customer after noticing overgrown yard

A pizza delivery driver goes above and beyond to assist an elderly customer after observing the state of their property.

Recognizing the situation, the driver offers much-needed help, demonstrating remarkable kindness and dedication.

James Dunn, a pizza delivery driver for East of Chicago Pizza in Barberton, noticed the grass was growing tall when he delivered pizza to an elderly customer, KLTV reports.

Seeing the need, James returned later with his own lawn mower. He mowed the lawn, trimmed the hedges, and cleaned the yard.

Additionally, Morning Glory Landscaping & Cleanouts removed the debris and brush left behind after Dunn’s work, ensuring the yard was fully cared for.

You might not encounter these delivery persons’ stories daily, but some can restore your faith in humanity.

For instance, Dean Rouse, an Asda delivery driver in Strabane, showed remarkable kindness to a customer undergoing cancer treatment, per Strabane Weekly News.

During a routine delivery, the customer mentioned that the new pajamas she had purchased for her hospital stay didn’t fit properly.

Dean, an Asda employee for two years, quickly took the pajamas and promised to help the customer.

After his shift, he returned to the store, processed the refund, and delivered the money to the customer on his way home.

The customer was so moved by Dean’s kindness that she called the Asda Strabane store to praise him, telling his managers how much she appreciated his help and thoughtfulness.

“Helping our customers is what we’re here for – when I heard about this lady’s situation, I knew I had to do something,” Dean said, adding that he aimed to make things a bit easier for the customer during her tough time. She was very grateful for the gesture. It shows how a small act of kindness can brighten someone’s day.

Peter Graham, Food Hall trading manager at Asda Strabane, remarked that Dean’s act of kindness exemplifies the compassionate spirit of the Asda Strabane team.

He highlighted how small gestures, like Dean’s, can significantly impact those who need it most.

Meanwhile, another delivery person exceeded her duties and saved a life.

In 2022, Jessica Higgs, an Instacart delivery person and mom, shared an emotional TikTok video.

It highlights the importance of listening to your inner voice when it tells you to check on someone.

“I just want to start this off by saying if you see something, say something,” Higgs said.

Jessica recounted a recent Instacart delivery for a daughter shopping for her elderly father. Although Higgs typically leaves groceries on the porch as instructed, she felt compelled to do more in this case.

When she arrived, she sensed she needed to assist the man personally. Despite the usual protocol of simply taking a picture and leaving, she decided to use her judgment.

She brought the groceries inside and placed them where the man wanted, choosing to help beyond the standard procedure.

Jessica noticed the man looked very sick and felt worried. She decided to message his daughter, suggesting that there might be a propane leak in the house.

The daughter promised to send someone to check it out. While the daughter increased her tip to $100, the real reward for Jessica was the appreciative message she received the next morning.

“Thank you so much, once my son went to check on my dad it turned out it was definitely leaking,” the daughter wrote. “You definitely saved my dad and my younger son’s life!!!”

Jessica moved to tears and encouraged others to speak up if they saw something wrong. Her TikTok video, viewed over 19 million times as of writing, has been widely shared and caught the attention of major companies, Upworthy noted.

Royal Caribbean Cruises responded by praising her bravery and offering a seven-day cruise for her and her family, noting that “even heroes need a vacation.”

Old Navy gave Higgs a shopping spree, where she got to model new outfits. People Magazine and TikTok both praised her for her bravery and instincts.

Many commenters pointed out that Jessica is more than “just an Instacart worker”; her role is important, and her actions have made a big difference.

Her story has inspired millions, and she is receiving the recognition she deserves for her kind actions.
