But for the Tracy family, it wasn’t just a sweet vacation memory.

It was a full-circle moment nearly five decades in the making that reconnected a mother with her inner child at Disney.

A missed moment that stayed with her

In the 1970s, Tracy visited Disney World as a 10-year-old on a road trip with her parents and two siblings.

They packed into a Chevy Chevette with bags strapped to the roof and wide eyes full of wonder.

The trip was exciting, but one thing never happened: meeting Mickey Mouse.

“We got to see Goofy, but we just never found Mickey,” she recalled.

That small disappointment stuck with her.

Over the years, life moved on—Tracy became a mom, raised her kids, and faced her share of ups and downs. But the dream of meeting Mickey Mouse never completely faded.

Finding comfort in Disney during tough times

Her bond with Disney grew stronger as an adult, especially during challenging moments.

When her eldest daughter, Kaylee, got very sick after a surgery gone wrong, the family turned to Disney movies for comfort.

Tracy said things got tough when her daughter Kaylee got sick after surgery. She had a seizure and spent time in intensive care.

At home, they found comfort in Disney movies.

Watching “The Emperor’s New Groove” and other films made the family feel better and heal together.

“It was part of the way we came back to ourselves,” she said.

A surprise trip leads to a dream come true

Years later, Tracy’s younger daughter, Savannah, landed an internship at Disney World. Knowing her mom’s old dream, she planned something special.

In July, she surprised her mom with a trip to the park. While walking through one of the themed areas, Savannah turned to her and said, “Mom, Mickey’s gonna be here. You want to get in line?”

Tracy didn’t hesitate. She stepped into line, heart pounding, surrounded by music and laughter. When her turn came, she finally stood face-to-face with Mickey Mouse.

“I just felt like a little kid again,” Tracy said, her voice filled with wonder.

Mom meets Mickey Mouse—tears and healing

Savannah caught it all on camera: the hug, the laughter, and the quiet tears. As soon as the moment passed, Tracy called her husband back home in New York.

“I finally met Mickey,” she said, tearing up. Then she added, “It’s stupid that I’m crying, and I’m 58 years old.”

Off-camera, Savannah gently reassured her: “It’s not stupid. That’s the magic of Disney at every age.”

Her husband wasn’t surprised by the tears either. He knew how much this meant to her.

“It’s like that 10 minutes of escaping the world and just being happy with Mickey,” she later said. “Is there anything more innocent than that?”
