Ashley, who lives in Evans, Georgia, wanted the dorm design to reflect Ava’s personality.

Since her daughter loves pink, she decided the theme would center on a pink dorm full of warmth and character.

“She trusts me to pick what will look best, so that makes it much easier,” Ashley said.

She started an Amazon list that later grew into a complete dorm registry, which family and friends used to give gifts during birthdays, holidays, and graduation.

“I’ll be the first to admit — and I’m sure my husband would agree — that I probably spent too much. But my motto is: it’s always better to be overly prepared than underprepared,” she said.

She also added a fun but practical touches, including a monogrammed medicine box and a pink vacuum that matched the dorm’s theme.

“It will, of course, be functional and pretty in pink,” she says. “The pink fridge, pink microwave, and pink Nespresso will be part of the setup, and I know it will be adorable.”
