Lily Jordan, 16, was supposed to see the Jonas Brothers concert in Hershey, Pennsylvania. However, she missed the show because she needed to receive urgent chemotherapy treatment for cancer.
While at Penn State Children’s Hospital, Lily jokingly invited the Jonas Brothers to visit her because she won’t be able to attend their concert.
She posted a selfie on Instagram and captioned it saying:
“I was supposed to be at your Hershey concert tomorrow but instead I’m across the street doing chemo. If y’all wanted to pop in I’ll give you my room number.”
Sure enough, her 3,489 followers got into action. They began sharing the post and tagging the Jonas Brothers. Not long after, Lily’s plea went viral.
Pennsylvania Rep. Scott Perry was one of the many who shared Lily’s post in hopes of getting the band’s attention.
“PRAYERS NEEDED! Our good friend Lily is fighting for her life in Hershey tonight, and so badly wanted to see the Jonas Brothers tomorrow night at Hersheypark, but can’t because of her urgent treatment. If there is anyway for them to visit her, we are lifting up her hopes and our prayers for help,” Perry wrote on Facebook.
Through the help of all these people and the power of social media, the Jonas Brothers finally got the message.
Before their concert, they made a quick stop at the hospital where Lily was receiving chemotherapy treatment to come and see her! Nick even brought along his wife, Priyanka Chopra.
“We saw your messages, we had to come over,” said Joe.
“Thank you for inviting us to come see you,” Kevin told Lily in a clip posted on the hospital’s Facebook page. He mentioned that his entire feed was filled with requests to visit her.
After chatting for a few minutes, Nick asked Lily if she had a favorite song that they could dedicate to her during the concert. Though a bit flustered, she said that “S.O.S”, their 2007 hit, would be her pick.
The overjoyed fan later posted about the surprise visit on Instagram.
“Wow. The power of social media you guys. YOU did this. YOU made my crappy chemo session into something incredibly special and unforgettable. Thank you thank you thank you @jonasbrothers for taking time out of your day to come pay me a visit. Literally made my life,” she wrote.
The Jonas Brothers are currently on their “Happiness Begins” tour. Their next show would be on Tuesday at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
