Heartbroken woman in tears after waiter surprises her with ‘small act of kindness’ she’ll never forget

A waiter at a hotel restaurant knows exactly what to do after seeing a heartbroken woman crying for two hours straight. Earlier this year, Hannah Hastings was upset after her long-term relationship ended. While sitting in a hotel restaurant with a friend, they tried to comfort each other over tea.

A thoughtful waiter noticed her sadness and did something nice for her.

His kind gesture went viral on TikTok, garnering over 124,000 likes and inspiring others to share similar stories of strangers helping during tough times.

“The small act of kindness I was shown that I will never forget,” Hannah posted on TikTok.

“When I had just gone through a long-term breakup, I sat in a hotel with a friend and cried about it for two hours straight,” she said.

“Just before we were about to leave, the waiter asked us to hang on because he ‘had something for me.'”

“It’s safe to say I cried even more when I saw the dessert,” she said.

In January, Hannah began her healing journey. She shared in the comments about a kind waiter who reassured her that he had experienced something similar and that things improved over time.

“I went through something like this too, but it gets better, I promise,” said the waiter.

Many TikTok users were touched by the waiter’s kindness to heartbroken women. They shared stories of strangers’ kindness during difficult times.

A TikTok user, Lauren Coffey, recounted a moment when she felt stressed and upset at a café because of her toxic job.

A kind man who empathized with her bought her a coffee and pastry, mentioning he had daughters around her age and didn’t want to see her sad.

A woman on TikTok recounted a moment when she was crying on a beach. A stranger approached and left shells beside her as a gesture of kindness, even though she didn’t know what the woman was going through.

In another story, a man named Jordyn shared that when he was stranded in New York at 2 am, the doorman at his intended apartment building offered to let him stay at his home for the night.

Another heartbroken woman grieving the loss of her fiancé on a flight was noticed by a stranger despite her attempts to hide her tears.

The compassionate stranger bought her a drink and listened to her as she shared her sorrow about her loss.

The woman expressed gratitude for this kind gesture, which she would always remember.

What do you get from being kind?

New findings show that being kind can boost mental health, especially by lessening feelings of sadness and worry, according to American Psychiatric Association.

Kind acts mean helping others on purpose, without wanting anything back.

A study from the University of Ohio looked at how being kind, hanging out with others, and getting a short therapy session affected people.

All three helped folks feel less sad and worried and happier with life. But kindness seemed best for making friends.

The researchers said kindness might help people connect with others and feel better overall more than regular therapy does.

Plus, being kind can shift focus away from personal problems for those feeling down.

Studies prove that kindness makes people happier and more confident while easing stress and emotional ups and downs.

Sometimes, we don’t realize how much good our kind acts can do, especially for lonely folks, such as someone who is heartbroken.

Yet, the receiver often cherishes kindness and the chance to connect more than the actual thing done or given.

And kindness spreads – when people get kindness, they’re more likely to pass it on.

Simple acts of kindness every day can brighten moods, ease stress, and maybe even help with feeling down or anxious.
