A realtor asked his Gen Z employee to make videos for his Instagram and TikTok, and the result is hilariously engaging.
Online users call for a promotion for an employee who created a funny video in response to her boss’s request.
Mike Hege, a real estate agent in Charlotte, North Carolina, asked his 27-year-old video editor to make a clip for Instagram and TikTok in early July.
The employee shared the video with the caption, “I asked my Gen Z employee to edit a video for me, and this is what I got!”

The video highlighted Hege’s brief pauses between house tours, showing him catching his breath, clapping, adjusting his hair, and gathering his thoughts.
The clip was titled “Mike’s Breathing.”
The video quickly became popular, with almost 3.5 million views in four days.
Online comments praised the employee, with some suggesting a raise, others admiring her courage, and one person even asking for the video to be included in the dictionary next to “millennial pause.”
In an interview with TODAY.com, Mike acknowledged his strong working relationship with the video editor (whose name is not being released).
He said this trusting environment allowed the employee to be creative with the video.
The employee typically produces videos showcasing Mike’s property listings and real estate advice. However, this time, she decided to try a popular online trend.

Mike was amused by the result and saw it would broaden their social media audience beyond local real estate content.
“We want to help people through the process of finance and real estate. This video was all about like the humanity of it. The authenticity that she tried to convey that we can we can have a good time,” Mike says, adding that the editor wanted to show the public that they are real people who can enjoy themselves and have a good sense of humor.
Mike said the Gen Z employee may receive the raise requested by online viewers, citing her strong performance since February and positive upcoming reviews.
The trend of employees creating humorous videos about their bosses has taken off on TikTok or Instagram.
The video is part of a TikTok trend where young employees create humorous edits of their bosses.
Videos using the phrase “Letting Gen Z Edit My Videos” often become popular online, including one with 0ver eight million views featuring a real estate agent repeatedly saying “um.”

Another TikTok video from the Regional History Museum in Marquette shows the curator’s laughs and comments instead of the presentation.
Similarly, a popular video from the Poe Museum turns the curator’s speech into amusing expressions and random phrases, like “This is a door.”
Other TikTok trends also showcase lighthearted interactions between different age groups in the workplace.
For instance, the “Can you watch my boss for a second?” trend, where younger employees capture their bosses’ puzzled expressions according to the outlet.
They then leave the boss, who is left to figure out what’s happening and what to say.
Despite the variety of office styles, the bosses all react similarlyโconfused about whether they are being filmed or live-streamed.
In a subsequent Instagram post, Mike revealed that his Gen Z employee continues contributing to his content, including writing his script for a video where he will use popular Gen Z terms during house tours.

In one video clip, Hege describes a kitchen as “clean as a whistle,” saying, “This kitchen ate and left no crumbs.”
In another, he praises a living room, declaring, “You’re clinically delulu if you don’t think this is fire.”
He jokingly asked his followers for help understanding the slang, writing, “Guys, please tell me what I’m saying because I have no idea.”
