A couple who struggled with decade-long infertility writes a moving letter to their egg donor

An egg donor received a heartfelt letter from the family who received her egg, stating that her donation leaves “an indelible mark” on their lives.

Fan Yang of YourEggs in San Diego was moved by the letter, appreciating the heartfelt connection between recipients and donors, which she believes reflects genuine love and gratitude.

“It is especially touching to see how the donor responds after receiving a heartfelt letter,” Fan said.

Fan emphasized that egg donors are kind, normal people who should feel loved, safe, and appreciated. She called all egg donors “angels” deserving of immense gratitude.

The Florida donor who received the letter was donating for the first time and was inspired to help a couple start their family.

The letter made her feel cared for and connected, and she was honored to help fulfill their dream.

The letter, posted on TikTok with the donor’s approval, resonated deeply with online audiences, amassing over 6.5 million views and 606,000 likes.

YourEggs uses social media to educate about egg donation, but Fan was surprised when their viral post touched many online.

It brought thousands of new applications and followers to the clinic, highlighting the importance of raising awareness about fertility issues.

“It’s been refreshing to see all the positive comments about egg donation, which people don’t often talk about,” she said.

The recipient’s letter has touched many online, generating over 1,400 comments.

One commenter described kindness as incredibly beautiful. Another expressed being deeply moved to tears.

A different TikToker who experienced infertility acknowledged the profound gift of kindness shown.

Fertility treatments are increasing in the U.S., with 42 percent of American adults in 2023 having undergone treatment or knowing someone who has, up from 37 percent in 2018.

Despite this rise, Fan rarely sees such heartfelt gestures and hopes for more letters like this, emphasizing the importance of emotional connection for both parties.

“I think it is so sweet and always brings me joy to deliver any gifts or letters to the donor. It’s so meaningful for both the donors and the parents to have this emotional connection that is conveyed through heartfelt words in a letter,” she said.

The note surprised the egg donor and moved her to tears.

She expressed deep gratitude and plans to keep the letter, and she felt her decision was important for another family.

She told Newsweek she felt overwhelmed, knowing her donation went to a kind family, making all her effort worthwhile.

“I just remember feeling flooded with gratitude and happiness. It felt like a weight was lifted, like all my work from doing the process was worth it, knowing that my donation was going to a kind family,” the donor said.
