An eight-year-old Mexican girl who was called “weird” in school turned out to be a child genius. Now, she is in the process of earning two online degrees in the engineering field.
It is not uncommon for individuals who are gifted or have exceptional abilities to be misunderstood or labeled as “weird” due to their differences in behavior, interests, or thought patterns.
Sometimes, the gifted people in our society suffer from alienation because of the majority’s failure to understand their personalities. This is exactly what happened to an eight-year-old Mexican girl named Adhara Pรฉrez.
It is reported that the girl possesses an IQ of 162 – a number slightly higher than the famous geniuses Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking, who each had an estimated intelligence quotient of 160.

According to the Yucatan Times, Adhara was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome when she was three years old.
It is a developmental disorder included in the autism spectrum which can affect a person’s capability of handling social interactions.
Adhara told the outlet that she was โmade a mockery at school.โ She was the subject of bullying by her classmates who called her names like โweirdoโ and โoddball.โ The teachers there thought she wouldn’t have a future in the academy.

โI saw that Adhara was playing in a little house and they locked her up. And they started to chant: โOddball, weirdo!โโ her mother, Nallely Sanchez, told the outlet. โAnd then they started hitting the little house. So I said, I donโt want her to suffer.โ
Because of her horrible experiences in school, Adhara fell into a โvery deepโ depression, according to her mom.
The youngster didn’t want to attend school anymore. Teachers reported that she would often sleep in class and wouldn’t show any interest and effort.

However, Nallely knew that her daughter possessed an intelligence rarely seen in most kids her age. She had a mastery over algebraic knowledge and the periodic table, so she decided to take her to therapy.
Her psychiatrist recommended that she take Adhara to the Talent Care Center, and that’s when they confirmed that the girl was a genius. It’s important to provide appropriate educational and social support to foster her talents and potential.
Gifted children often have unique learning needs and may benefit from specialized educational programs or opportunities to challenge themselves academically.
From there, Adhara was able to thrive in a learning environment adapted to students like her who possessed a one-of-a-kind intelligence. It’s important to recognize and celebrate the diversity of human potential and avoid labeling individuals based on preconceived notions or social norms.
Her abilities allowed her to finish elementary school at the age of 5, middle school by 6, and high school by 8.
Now, Adhara is on to another milestone as she is currently in the process of earning two online degrees, one in industrial engineering in mathematics and the other in systems engineering.

Adhara – who was featured in Forbes Mรฉxicoโs 100 Most Powerful Women in Mexico list – also wrote a book about her experiences as a “genius girl” who became a victim of bullying. The title of the book roughly translates to Do Not Give Up.
According to Vogue Mexico, the child genius is currently developing a smart bracelet that can monitor the emotions of differently-abled children.
In the future, Nallely plans to take Adhara to the United States to take the entrance examination at University of Arizona – her daughter’s dream school.
She is now learning English to prepare for her transfer to the U.S. and plans to explore astrophysics. Someday, the girl dreams to be an astronaut.
It’s also important to recognize that intelligence comes in many forms and to avoid equating high IQ with overall success or happiness in life.
While intelligence can open doors to certain opportunities, other factors such as emotional intelligence, creativity, and resilience are also important for achieving long-term success and fulfillment.
The future sure looks bright not just for Adhara, but also for the rest of the world who will benefit from the great things she will surely accomplish! Learn more about her below:
