A 3-year-old cancer survivor becomes flower girl in her bone marrow donor’s wedding

What can be more beautiful than the festive celebration of the union of two hearts? Nothing but a wedding ceremony witnessed by family, friends, and all of the people who played a significant role in their lives.

A toddler named Skye Savren-McCormick made the sweetest day of the bride, Hayden Hatfield Ryals, even more, beautiful and heart-tugging, when she walked down the aisle for the woman who saved her young life.

When the blushing bride, Hayden Hatfield Ryals, tied the knot with the love of her life last June 9, one of her flower girls brought their guests into tears.

The three-year-old cancer survivor, Skye attended Hayden’s wedding, her bone marrow donor and the woman who saved her young life.

The charming little girl was diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia in March 2016, a few days before she celebrated her first birthday.

Fortunately, in the same year, Skye found a donor in the body of Hayden and had her first bone marrow transplant.

Skye’s mother believes that if not for Hayden, her daughter would never make it to her final transplant nor live.

“She was that sick,” Talia shared. “I feel like Hayden is such a huge success in why Skye was able to beat leukemia.”

A few months after Skye’s successful transplant, her parents Talia and Todd received a letter from Hayden. The selfless donor reached out to Skye through the Be The Match, the organization from which Skye received her bone marrow.

Skye and her donor, Hayden, developed a one-of-a-kind friendship and continued exchanging messages through texts and Facebook messages through Skye’s mother. In fact, for Skye’s third birthday, Hayden even sent her a gift.

Inside the gift is a card as well, asking the adorable 3-year-old Skye to attend her wedding and be one of her flower girls.

After Skye’s doctors gave her a clearance, she together with her supportive parents traveled to Alabama. And during the wedding rehearsals, Skye and Hayden finally met each other in flesh.

“I always tell people they’re smitten for one another,” Talia Savren-McCormick, Skye’s mother shared on Good Morning America. “Skye calls her ‘Hay Hay.'” The mother added, showing how close Skye is with Hayden.

“I walked up and I just dropped to my knees and all I could do was smile,” Hayden recalled her reaction upon meeting Skye for the first time.
