New York recently had its hero bus driver after the man saved a kid walking in the middle of the street.
On June 19, Peter Warner, a bus driver for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, was driving his regular route through Willowbrook on Staten Island when he noticed a young child standing alone in the road.
The boy had wandered away while his father was sleeping and his mother was at work, according to “Good Morning America.”

“I noticed a little boy running down the middle of the street. He had his iPad in his hand and a diaper and a tank top, no shoes. And I immediately stopped the bus,” Warner recalled.
Peter, a father of two, quickly blocked the intersection with his bus and ensured its safety before taking the child into his care.
Warner then called the MTA’s Bus Command Center, his union, and 911. The boy was soon reunited with his family.

Peter also mentioned that he has since been in touch with the toddler’s mother.
“She gave me a big hug and she thanked me up and down,” Peter said.
The hero bus driver is pleased with how the situation turned out. He noted that he and the boy’s mother are now Facebook friends and have built friendships.
“We’re friendly on Facebook and she comments on my kids’ pictures and stuff like that so, we made a friendship out of it,” the hero bus driver said.
Earlier this year, a school bus driver from Louisiana was called a hero for saving nine kids, per ABC.

In March, Kia Rousseve saw something was wrong with her school bus and knew she had to act fast. She said she thought like a mom and treated the kids like hers.
Kia, 28, noticed something was wrong when the bus started acting strangely. A video shows her stopping the bus and someone telling her about the fire under the bus.
She quickly got the kids off the bus from kindergarten to eighth grade. The kids were scared, and some cried.
Soon after, the front of the bus was on fire. The school said Rousseve was brave and smart.

“I was just glad that I was being a hero to the kids and being a hero to myself by getting them off the bus,” she said.
