Renewing wedding vows is always an emotional event, and even more so when loved ones are active participants.
Recently, 12-year-old Aiden went viral when a Tiktok video of him singing at his parents’ renewal of marriage vows ceremony caught the hearts and attention of viewers.
Shared by videographer Danielle Tufano on April 12, the three-minute video clip has already racked up around 4.6 million views and received more than 871,000 likes.
Aiden shared that it was his mother’s idea for him to sing at the ceremony renewing his parents’ wedding vows. He did not hesitate and quickly agreed, and even knew the song that he wanted to sing: Calum Scott’s “You Are the Reason.”
Aiden explained, “I chose the song because I find it really sentimental and it was very sweet. I love my parents so that’s why I decided to choose that song to sing at the wedding.”
At the ceremony renewing his parents’ wedding vows, Aiden felt a little nervous being in front of so many people. He recalled, “But I was very excited and happy at the same time to be there at the wedding, to sing for my parents.”
Nerves gave way to emotion, however, when Aiden started singing. He quickly became emotional, wiping away tears before regaining his composure to finish his heartfelt solo.
He might have wavered at the beginning of the song, but Aiden was able to focus on the song and his parents and ended up giving a truly memorable performance.
He said, “I got very emotional in the start, and then after, I just completely forgot about all the emotions and stuff and I just let it out.”
The audience was just as touched. Aiden’s mom Kemorene Mills-Armstrong said other people teared up as well when Aiden sang while his parents were renewing their wedding vows.
Kemorene said, “When he started, I was very emotional. From the beginning, it was very emotional, and then you heard all the guests in the background. They were crying so I got, even more, teary-eyed so I had to be looking up because all of the tears would be flooding down. So it was a very special moment.”
Kemorene and her husband Kirkland Armstrong renewed their wedding vows on March 23 in Port St. Lucie, Florida with their three sons in attendance, as well as family and friends.
Aiden had always loved singing and it showed when he sang as his parents renewed their wedding vows. His voice trembled a little and he had to wipe away tears at the beginning, but as the song progressed, Aiden became calmer and more confident.
He sang beautifully and passionately and certainly did justice to the song. Aiden aims to continue his passion for singing with lessons and hopes to meet his favorite singers one day. Aside from Calum Scott, he is also a huge admirer of Bruno Mars and Charlie Puth.
Kemorene had actually shared a clip of Aiden singing on her own TikTok page and was surprised to find out that her videographer’s post had gone viral.
She declared, “I honestly had no idea that would have happened at all. But I’ve been reading the comments online, and I’m like, I just cannot believe they’re so positive. I’ve been crying most of the time, because I just didn’t believe that people love him so much.”
The performance was just so touching that Calum Scott himself left a comment:
Renewing wedding vows is always special, but this event became more memorable with the immense positive reaction to Aiden’s singing.
Kemorene added, “It’s a very special time for all of us. Even at his school, all his friends, they know, the principal knows, everyone knows right now. So it’s a really special time.”
