Young boy finally found his forever home after being in 25 different foster homes

An 11-year-old boy finally found a loving family after staying in 25 different foster homes in four years.

Luke Kissinger from Arkansas was adopted on May 14th, and his classmates watched the whole thing on a livestream.

โ€œThat day was really special because now I donโ€™t have to worry about moving around,โ€ Luke said.

Luke expressed relief at finally having a stable home and finding a loving family after experiencing multiple moves.

Cassie Kissinger, Luke’s new mom, said it took a year for his adoption to be finalized.

Despite the wait, Cassie cherished every moment and described it as a day she’ll never forget.

She was touched by her family and Luke’s classmates’ reactions during the special moment, describing it as an emotional but positive day.

“Everyone was tearing up, the class cheered, and his teachers were there,” she said.

She first saw him in March 2023 through a Project Zero video and immediately felt a connection.

While adjusting to his new surroundings took time, Luke now feels comfortable and accepted.

He is embraced not only by his loving mother but also by his new siblings, who deeply care for him.

โ€œLuke has faced so much heartbreak and trauma, but he has the biggest heart, has worked so hard to improve behaviors and catch up in school, and is absolutely thriving,โ€ his mother, Cassie Kissinger, told Daily Mail, adding that Luke struggled to find happiness before, but with them, he’s always been joyful and energetic, and his happiness shines even brighter after adoption.

Luke’s life has shifted abruptly from hardship to happiness and safety after finding a loving family.

He gets along well with everyone in the family. He enjoys spending time with Dad, sharing jokes, receiving affection from Mom and Sister, and playing football with his brother in the backyard.

It took Luke some time to adjust to his new life, but now, according to Cassie, he understands that this is his forever home.

His new brother, Ayden, expressed excitement, calling it “really exciting.”

Similarly, his sister, Alena, expressed happiness, saying, “I’m glad he’s my brother. I love him like a brother.”

Meanwhile, Luke not only found a loving family but also received the Chamber of Commerce award for fourth grade at Brookland Middle School for overcoming “personal difficulties.”

The reason for Luke’s frequent changes in foster families remains unclear.

However, according to the Arkansas Advocate, as of March 31, there were 4,199 children in foster care in Arkansas, 43 more than at the end of 2022.

The Division of Children and Family Services’ quarterly report indicates that the government agency responsible for Arkansas’s foster care system is understaffed.

Due to this situation, there’s an increased workload and higher employee turnover.

According to the Deputy Director of Youth and Families at DHS, workers typically leave within two years of starting.

However, despite these challenges, the state has had 325 fewer children in foster care since June 30 of last year, as per the report.

Reasons to adopt a child

Whether you are starting a family through adoption or adding to your existing one, the best adoptions happen when parents prioritize the child’s needs.

If your main goal is to provide a loving family and home, you likely have the right motivations for adoption.

The best adoptive families are welcoming and eager to share family traditions and faith and create lasting memories.

They also accept the child as they are, including their faults, and respect their history and heritage.

If you want to help a child heal from past trauma, such as abuse, neglect, abandonment, or being orphaned, you have the right reasons for adopting.

The best adoptive families aim to give the child a fresh start and understand that there will be challenges along the way.

They are prepared for both the ups and downs of adoptive parenting.

Readiness for adoption means more than just wanting to share your home.

You need to have the physical space and be financially stable to comfortably support a child.

This includes providing for their physical needs like food, clothing, school expenses, and medical care.

Most importantly, you must have the time and emotional energy to welcome a new family member.
