Steve Irwin’s son feeds same crocodile at same place as his dad 15 years apart

Everybody knows – and misses – Steve Irwin.

Born in Melbourne, Australia on February 22, 1962, “The Crocodile Hunter” grew up on a wildlife park owned by his parents, now known as the Australia Zoo. His childhood greatly influenced the career path that he would be taking in the future, and he went on to become a famous wildlife enthusiast and television personality.

Steve Irwin hosted the popular series Crocodile Hunter beginning in 2006, and that same program skyrocketed their family to worldwide fame. Aside from hosting the hit series, Steve often made an appearance in major talk shows.

Through our television screens, we saw Steve for who he really was – a man with a deep love for wildlife who didn’t even care about the fame. To him, it was all about the animals. Unfortunately, the world couldn’t have him for a long time. In 2006, while in a diving expedition off the coast of Port Douglas in Queensland, Australia, Steve was pierced in the chest by a stingray barb, which hit his heart and claimed his life. He was only 44 years old at the time.

But even without his presence, the Irwin family made sure to continue his legacy. And just recently, Steve’s son, Robert, showed everyone that he was indeed following his dad’s footsteps – literally.

Robert shared a side-by-side photo of him and Steve feeding the same crocodile named Murray, which his dad fed 15 years ago in the very same place.

“Dad and me feeding Murray… same place, same croc – two photos 15 years apart” Robert wrote.

The resemblance between the two photographs was uncanny. Many people sent uplifting comments about the image, telling Robert that his father would have felt really proud of him.

“This photo touched my heart. Your Dad would be so proud. Keep up the great work,” wrote one commenter.

“You are an inspiration Robert, he’d be so proud,” wrote another user.

Robert appears to be creating a legacy of his own as well. Aside from being a successful wildlife photographer and conservationist, the 15-year-old has been frequently guesting on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon – and America just loves him! Every time the teen visits, he introduces exotic animals to the audiences, much to their delight.

The Irwin family also currently stars on their own show Crikey! It’s the Irwins, which features their day-to-day life caring for more than 1,200 animals in the Australia Zoo.

Steve Irwin’s family is carrying on his mission of bringing people closer to animals – and everyone can see that they have really been successful with that.
