Meet the Reon Pocket, a personal air conditioner that will keep you cool wherever you go. You can simply slip it into a pouch on the back of a shirt and feel the extra comfort you need when traveling or walking in a crowded place.

Reon Pocket is being developed as a part of Sony’s startup acceleration program called the “First Flight Program.” Sony has worked for two years to develop this device in response to the needs of businessmen in Tokyo who often wear suits. In just one week, the Reon Pocket has been fully funded and has been sold out for pre-orders.

According to a report from Engadget, “The stealthy device doesn’t condition the air as such. Rather, it sits at the base of your neck and uses the Peltier effect (where heat is absorbed or emitted when you pass an electrical current across a junction) to either lower your temperature by 23F or raise it by 14F, all without bulk or noise. You could wear a stuffy business outfit on a hot day and avoid looking like you’ve stepped out of a sauna.”

What’s more amazing about this device is that it can be controlled via Bluetooth through an app. The temperature can be set manually either to heat you up or cool you down. This device is also very silent that no one will think you are wearing an innovative cooling device.

While Sony is not the first company to devise a personal thermostat, considering the Embr Wave which was launched last year, Reon Pocket is more advantageous because of its size. It is compact and portable which can fit underneath a regular business shirt, according to Sony’s promotional video.

To make it more user-friendly, it is powered by a lithium-ion battery and can be charged for just two hours. However, a lot of people think that one of the possible downsides of the device is the battery life. Though you can charge it for just a few hours, there is no guarantee that it will last for the entire working day.

Reon Pocket is a very promising device from Sony and the benefits of this device are crystal clear. This will help a lot of businessmen get through a hot day while still looking polished and without catching people’s attention.

Because this device was initially developed with businessmen in mind, the Reon Pocket will only be available to men and will be launched only in Japan in 2020.  The device is priced reasonably for ¥12,760 ($117) so a lot of men in Japan can afford this convenient, innovative product from Sony.

Clearly, the world of technology is evolving quickly and in the next years, we will see more state-of the art, ground-breaking inventions. Thanks to big technology companies like Sony, people’s lives are getting easier and more comfortable than ever.
