Taco Bell manager is being hailed as a hero after she sprang into action to save a baby’s life

A Taco Bell manager saved a baby who suddenly stopped breathing after hearing a mom screaming for help, and it was caught on video.

Pennsylvania mom Natasha Long considers Taco Bell Manager Becky Arbaugh her “guardian angel.” Arbaugh rescued Long’s 11-month-old son when he stopped breathing while they were running errands.

This happened during a stop at a Taco Bell drive-thru in Richboro. “I ran out of the car and ran around and opened the door,” Long said.

She felt overwhelmed as she pulled him out, seeing him turn completely blue and appear lifeless. At that moment, she couldn’t think clearly and didn’t know what to do.

During the busy lunch rush, the Taco Bell manager, Arbaugh, heard Long’s cry for help and the urgent call to dial 911 because the baby wasn’t breathing.

Without hesitation, she hurried to Long’s side as one of her employees made the emergency call.

“I threw my headset and ran outside to the baby. The mom was panicked. I told her to give him to me, and I performed CPR,” Arbaugh recalled, adding that she tried to calm the mom, comfort her, and reassure her that everything would be alright.

“The baby finally started to breathe. The ambulance came quickly, and then they took over,” Arbaugh said. “The EMT said I saved his life.”

The baby was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children for further treatment while the cause of his breathing trouble remains unknown.

Arbaugh, a mother of four, knew how to help babies who couldn’t breathe because she had once helped her daughter.

She believed staying calm was important and reassured the worried mother that the baby would breathe again. Taco Bell’s staff are proud of Arbaugh’s heroic act at their Richboro, PA, location.

They thanked her for acting quickly and being kind. Since the incident, the two women have become friends on Facebook.

Long shares photos and videos of her son with Arbaugh to remind her of the life she saved.

Meanwhile, the Taco Bell manager doesn’t see herself as a hero: “Iโ€™m just a mom helping a mom. I didnโ€™t do anything different from what anyone else should be doing,” she said.

Understanding the situation instantly, she felt a deep empathy, and knowing the pain involved, she felt compelled to help.

As a mother herself, she recognized the feeling of helplessness in such circumstances.

Why CPR Skills are Crucial for Parents?

CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation is essential during emergencies when someone stops breathing, or their heart stops beating, Nemours Kids Health noted.

It includes chest compressions and rescue breathing to circulate oxygen-rich blood to the brain and restart breathing when someone is not breathing or circulating blood properly.

CPR’s three main parts are easily remembered as “CAB”:

  • C for compressions: This involves pressing on the chest to aid blood flow to vital organs. CPR starts with 30 chest compressions followed by two rescue breaths, done “hard, fast, and in the center of the chest.”
  • A for airway: After compressions, ensure the person’s airway is clear for breathing, as it may be obstructed by the tongue, unconsciousness, or foreign objects.
  • B for breathing: Rescue breathing begins when the airway is clear. It involves pushing air into the lungs and checking for signs of life.

For new parents, having their first child can feel overwhelming.

Caring for a newborn has its challenges; despite reading, many may not feel fully prepared.

Learning infant CPR is crucial for every parent, per First Aid Darwin.

Being prepared can save a child’s life, so parents need to be ready.

Learning CPR is crucial to ensure the babyโ€™s safety during emergencies as they are delicate, and minor accidents can turn serious.

Infant CPR can save a baby’s life if their heart stops or they have breathing problems, and acting quickly with CPR can make a big difference.

New and expecting parents need to enroll in a CPR class to learn these lifesaving techniques.

  1. I think she did the right thing. Think about it a situation that you could have been in the same.
    Thank God she was there
