Introducing Dog-Opoly, a game patterned after the staple Monopoly. As you might have figured from the name, the difference between these two is that the players get to own dogs instead of property. How cute is that?

If you were used to the traditional game-style of the traditional version, things are about to take an interesting change. Dog-Opoly, produced by the specialty board game company Late for the Sky, introduces players to a different type of Monopoly – a friendlier version that is less likely to cause rows between family members.

Instead of amassing property, the goal of the game is to purchase dogs of different breeds and sizes. You also get to learn more about these canines as there are exciting and fun facts about them included in the dog deeds.

The game rules are essentially the same as the classic Monopoly, but with just a couple of minor doggie twists. It is meant to be played by 2 to 6 people, and you may choose to play the standard or the one-hour version.

Participants also get to choose from canine-related figures as their playing pieces – such as a scared cat, a mailman, a food bowl, and a fire hydrant. They can buy dogs by landing on their spaces. Real estate is arranged by dog breed size, with the Chihuahua representing Mediterranean Avenue and the Great Dane serving as the game’s Boardwalk.

Players win $200 every time they pass through Go Fetch and lose that amount by landing on Fleas. There are also good and bad dog cards, and the Go to Jail cell has been replaced by a Go to Kennel box. Instead of buying houses and hotels, players develop their properties by purchasing dog houses and dog bones. The bones are put on land so that rent will increase.
