A couple transformed a blank piece of land into a stunning luxury dome home, making the most of its sweeping views. This innovative design creates a unique retreat with a breathtaking panorama.
Nestled in a picturesque setting, the Solace Sphere is a prime example of creative home design.
Sam and April, the creators, embarked on a nearly three-year journey to build more than just a house.

“It’s different from a normal house, offering a space where people can reconnect, unwind, and get back to being themselves,” said Sam.
The journey began with acquiring land and envisioning something extraordinary. Rather than a traditional house, they chose a dome structure. This choice was driven by a desire to offer a space that feels both different and inviting.
The dome’s circular shape posed challenges, especially with limited space. Despite these obstacles, Sam and April embraced the process, learning various skills. They tackled tasks from plumbing to electrical work with determination and grit.
The couple spent $66,000 on the land, $142,000 on the dome, and $28,000 on utilities, for a total of $236,000.

The result is a striking 35×55 deck designed as a central hangout area. It features a ninja wood fire grill that doubles as an oven, perfect for holiday meals. A pellet patio heater adds a cozy touch, providing warmth even on cooler evenings.
The couple also kept a tree on the deck, creating a lovely spot for morning coffee with a water view. In summer, the view is partially blocked by leaves, but it offers a clear lake vista in fall.
The exterior of this luxury dome home is impressive, but the standout feature is the outdoor sauna. Sourced from Seattle, this redwood sauna provides a touch of luxury that is not commonly found.
Inside, it features two benches and a heater. At the same time, a panoramic window offers a peaceful view of the surrounding trees, enhancing the sauna experience.

Inside the luxury dome home, visitors encounter a layout that mixes the unexpected with the familiar. The design goal was to create a homey feel despite the unique structure.
The interior includes a living room, a TV, and a kitchen, offering a comforting sense of normalcy.
Initially, the plan called for whitewashed walls, but this was soon changed to a calming green after the original color did not meet their expectations. This green hue now contributes to a serene atmosphere throughout the home.

A highlight of the interior is the record player, a cherished feature for April, who grew up with vinyl records.
“I went and dug through my mom’s old records even have gone to yard cells Consignment places and have been able to find some really cool records,” she said.
The bathroom is another impressive feature. It is designed with luxury and has a corner shower with clear glass and a water feature miming a waterfall.
Modern touches like a motion sensor toilet and an LED-lit mirror combine functionality with style. At the same time, the floating sink adds a contemporary flair.

The master bedroom features a king-size bed for ultimate comfort. A barn door, built by Sam, ensures a dark and restful environment essential for good sleep.
Space considerations due to the dome’s framing did not compromise the focus on comfort.

Moving to the loft, the couple utilized the 16-foot-tall space above, creating an additional sleeping area with a queen-size bed.
This loft is perfect for guests or extra family members, making the home versatile for different occasions.
The kitchen is the heart of the home, reflecting Sam’s passion for cooking and design. A custom-made countertop from a local Tennessee sawmill adds a unique touch.

The kitchen features a bar top with stools, a modern Samsung color-changing panel, and ample storage. Although the absence of an oven was a practical decision due to ventilation concerns, the kitchen is well-equipped for various cooking needs.
Open cabinets inspired by the show “Friends” add a personal touch and showcase the couple’s love for unique design.
The adjacent dining area is strategically placed next to a window, offering diners a splendid view. The round table is perfect for meals and gatherings, enhancing the home’s social atmosphere.

“I like being here more than being in my house. It just feels more comfortable, like living inside a snow globe. It’s a magical feeling. The huge window lets you look out at nature, making everything feel so peaceful and calming. I love itโthe feeling you get because it’s so different,” Sam said.
