This brewery is featuring adoptable rescue dogs on their beer can labels

To do their part in helping shelter dogs find forever homes, this brewery featured them on the labels of their limited edition six-pack beer cans.

Fargo Brewing Company partnered with North Dakota-based animal rescue organization 4 Luv of Dog Rescue to help their long-term resident canines – called the “One-der” dogs – find the loving homes they’ve long been waiting for. The six chosen pups – Nyx, Bizzy, Jensen, Hobie, Moby and Virginia – were named as such because they would do well in households where they are the only pets.

Finding homes for them can be quite a challenge because of this, so to put them in the spotlight, the brewery labeled their beer cans with the pups’ adorable pictures.

This idea was the brainchild of Jerad Ryan, a volunteer at the rescue. Having been involved with the shelter for over four years, he understood the struggle of finding families that would be willing to adopt the “One-der” dogs. He eventually ended up fostering one of them, a dog named Bizzy who has been with the rescue since June 2018.

Out of all the dogs, Moby is the only one who isn’t a “One-der”, but it is equally important that he finds a home as soon as possible.

“He is older and has some special medical needs that have been a big part of his struggles finding a forever home,” Jerad said.

Jerad has always been trying to find ways to get people interested in adopting dogs like Bizzy, and in a light-bulb kind of moment, the animal-lover came up with a brilliant idea that would help them get attention.

Jerad works at Northern Plains Label which produces labels for breweries, among others. He thought of asking his employer to donate labels to a beer company that would be willing to feature the “One-der” dogs in their beer cans. Luckily, they found Fargo Brewing Company, a brewery that wanted to support the cause. They cooperated and featured the six pups in the labels of their Original Lager Line.

“Dogs are a vital part of all our lives here at Fargo Brewing and we really like supporting and collaborating with a great organization like ‘4 Luv of Dog Rescue’ to ensure that dogs are receiving the love and care they deserve,” said Zach Click, Operations Manager at Fargo Brewing.

On November 4, Fargo Brewing invited people to the brewery for an adoption event where they could purchase a limited-edition six pack for $9 and meet one of the rescue dogs.

Out of the 40 cases made with the special labels, 25 were sold at the event, according to Tawny Hewitt, the brewery’s social media and marketing manager. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the beers will be donated to the rescue group.

“We hope that having these dogs featured on the cans will help raise awareness and shine a spotlight on them where they might normally have been overlooked,” Fargo Brewing Company told CNN in a statement.

Jerad has some advice to give to the people who are interested in adopting one of these pups.

“If a person is ready to adopt a ‘One-der’ dog they better have a bunch of love to give,” he said. “These ‘One-der’ dogs will soak up all the love they can get. The person or persons that adopt a ‘One-der’ just need to understand what that dog’s particular needs are and commit to them.”

Here’s to hoping that Nyx, Bizzy, Jensen, Hobie, Moby and Virginia find their ‘furever’ homes very soon!
