This precious ‘pawtoshoot’ of a Dachshund and her newborn pups is melting hearts

A photographer from Washington State named Laura Shockley is an expert at maternity and newborn photography. She uploads her client’s beautiful photos on her Facebook page and most recently, her dog Sugar became the subject of one of her shoots!

On August 24, Laura shared the exciting news of her 2-year-old Dachshund’s pregnancy by sharing a series of photos featuring the pup on her Facebook page. In the images, Sugar is seen donning a tiny pastel pink skirt and a dainty flower crown while posing in a garden full of flowers. Sugar looked every bit like a glowing mother in Laura’s beautiful shots!

The dachshund are sometimes wire-haired, long-haired or smooth-haired. It is a dog breed known for their short legs but with a long body. They are fond called by dog-lovers as ‘wiener dog’.

“This little momma is going to grace us with some short legged puppers soon! I can not wait for the next milestone session for her, the grandmother (me) “purchased” her the maternity/newborn package! Stay tuned for the next session,” she captioned the post.

Weeks after, Sugar finally gave birth to five precious puppies and of course, Laura did another photoshoot featuring her dog and her “little sprinkles”, as the proud “grandmother” calls them.

One of the photos shows the five sleeping pups tucked close to each other on a crib while Sugar is lovingly gazing at them, probably feeling so proud of herself that she gave birth to these cute puppies!

Laura says that Sugar is doing great and that her pups are healthy and growing. The new mom is on a special diet consisting of a 10-ounce mixture of cottage cheese, ground chicken, peas, pumpkin, and carrots which she takes four times a day to keep her strong.

“My mother ‘the fairy grandpuppers’ we call her, makes this mixture for her daily.” Laura told FOX 5, “The pups have doubled their size in two weeks and [are] doing amazing. All thanks to my mother Charlene Smith and Sugar being an amazing mommy!”

Laura will continue to care for the puppies until they are ready to live with their forever families. Once they are of age, the pups will be given to Laura’s friends and family who’ve always wanted Dachshunds.

“We would love to be able to watch them grow, so family was the first to get pups.”

Congratulations to Sugar and the Shockley family!
