Original Gerber baby meets first Gerber baby who has Down syndrome and there’s 90 years between them

Nine decades after the first photo of the original Gerber baby came out, who would have thought that one of the most adorable pictures across all generations would steal the hearts of millions.

The first Gerber baby, who is now 91-year old, and the newest baby of the brand who is 18-month-old, joined forces for the cutest photo you will ever see.

The adorable photo of Ann and Lucas took the internet by storm, and people cannot help but click on their retweet button to express their delight.

Most of us are already familiar with Ann Cook, whose face we have seen first on the packaging of Gerber. Ann Cook, who is now 91-years old, became the first face and called the original Gerber baby after her family submitted a drawing of her charming face for the Gerber contest in the year 1928.

Her iconic charcoal picture became the face of Gerber until Gerber has decided to hold another contest to choose its next spokesbaby.

Out of 140,000 babies who joined the contest, the 18-month-old Lucas Warren made history last February for he came out victorious and was chosen to represent the company for the new generations of babies.

Lucas’ who has Down Syndrome just proved the world that despite being different, he is just as charming as the other babies- if not even cuter!

Despite of their huge age difference, Ann and Lucas connected with each other easily when Lucas paid his predecessor a visit months before he became active with his new role.

“As soon as we walked into the room, she and Lucas immediately bonded,” Jason and Courtney, Lucas’ supportive parents shared what transpired during their meeting with Ann. “Lucas walked right up to her, flashing his signature smile and waving, and we could tell he loved her right away.”

Ann’s grandson, Chris Colin, who was also there during the first up-close and personal meeting of Ann and Lucas, posted the adorable photo of the two on his Twitter account.

“My grandmother was the Gerber baby. It was a funny bit of trivia, never made her rich or got us free strained peas or anything. But last week she got to meet the company’s newest spokesbaby, named Lucas. Pretty pretttty cute,” Chris’ shared on Twitter.

Due to the irresistible cuteness of the two, Chris’ tweet garnered more than 69,000 likes and thousands of retweets as well.

“She just loves babies,” Colin shared in an interview. “She thinks of herself as sort of the face of babies. And because of this funny thing that happened, she gets to meet all these really wonderfully cute little babies in life.”

“My grandmother has always said that there’s something about the Gerber baby that cuts across all kinds of people,” Chris also added.

“We all feel so divided sometimes, but the positive response that came from all kinds of people… that is one of the things that’s touching for me.”

It is amazing how simple things such as the adorable pictures of Ann and Lucas could brighten one’s day. Did  Click your share button if you find their photo irresistibly cute as well. Share their photo to cheer someone’s day.
