When this man asked for a refund for the dog food that he recently purchased, he didn’t expect to receive something more.
Losing a pet is one of the most heartbreaking experiences that anyone can go through. Life without them will never be the same because they were never just pets to us – they were family.
Recently, a man named Joseph Inabnet lost his beloved dog, Bailey. As devastating as it was, he had to put down his pet last October. The poor dog had been on prescription dog food, and he bought a brand new unopened bag from Chewy’s which cost about $70.

Joseph asked the company if he could return it but instead, Chewy’s advised him to just donate the dog food and they returned his money.
He was impressed by the company’s great customer service, but little did he know that they had a surprise in store for him.
One day, Joseph received a package from Chewy. He opened it and there he saw two items – a card and a small canvas with an oil painting of Bailey by artist, Sharon LaVoie Lamb. Joseph remembered that he must have uploaded a photo of his dog to Chewy at some point, and this picture is what the company used as a reference. The painter did an amazing job of turning a portrait of Bailey into beautiful art.

In the card, Chewy wrote: “It’s hard to say goodbye to a loved one. They will always be remembered and cherished. With heartfelt sympathy, ‘Pets come into our lives, leave Paw Prints on our hearts and we are forever changed.’
We’re sending lots of love and positive thoughts. If you ever need anything, we’re always here. Warmly, the Chewy Family.”
The company made the heartwarming gift to ensure that Joseph got the support that he needed during a tough time.

Joseph was extremely touched by the gesture, so he posted about the story on Facebook, in the hopes that Chewy will get the recognition that they deserve.
“I don’t know how to make something go viral, but Chewy.com deserves recognition for their outstanding attention to detail and customer service,” he wrote in the post.
And viral it went.
As of writing, Joseph’s post has garnered 212,000 reactions and 120,000 shares.
People shared their own experiences with Chewy in the comments.
And the company replied with a lovely message.

What a great thing to do. Kudos to all the staff at Chewy’s!
And as for Joseph, Bailey will always be in his heart – and now, in his home. Thanks to this company’s thoughtful tribute.
