Two inseparable dogs bond and comfort each other in shelter

It’s not a secret that our furry friends are taking the Internet by storm, and just recently, two shelter dogs made it to the spotlight. 

Agatha and Jukebox lives at Pima Animal Care Center in Arizona. Agatha was surrendered by her owner, while Jukebox used to be a stray.

In a typical shelter home, newcomers are not given a warm welcome by the animals who were hosted before them. It’s usually a battle between who gets adopted first. But when these two were introduced to each other, an undeniable instant connection formed.

“Typically when a bonded pair of dogs come in the shelter, they’ve spent their whole life together,” Kristen Hassen-Auerbach, director of animal services, told The Dodo.

“But with these two, they didn’t know each other. They met in a playgroup one day and from the second they laid eyes on each other they became inseparable.”

Shelter life does not come easy for any animal. Being in an enclosed space for a long period of time can get frustrating. Spending everyday waiting for a possible owner to take you in may seem like a dream that cannot be reached. But because of the friendship that they formed days after their meeting, all the worries and anxieties became more bearable.

The company that they give to each other occupies them from thinking about being adopted, and being upset about shelter life.

Apart from being each other’s happy pill, personal space seems like a foreign concept to these canines. Even with the spacious kennel laid out for them, they prefer to snuggle in the same cot when it’s time to sleep.

Pima Animal Care Center takes about 17,000 animals every year, and currently houses 400 dogs. Fate really played its part by letting these two adorable canines meet.

While the circumstance is not the best, staying at the shelter together made have changed their lives forever. The only missing piece is an owner that is willing to take them in together.

This animal care center is only one of the many in different cities. With the growing number of animals being surrendered and adopted every year, it is highly encouraged that potential pet owners prioritize adopting rather than purchasing. It really does make a difference, and it gives room to another animal in need of a shelter.

“Typically we don’t say ‘these two have to be adopted together’ because that makes it take longer for them to find a home,” Reck said.

“But with these two, we just can’t bring ourselves to split them up, so we’re hoping against hope that we can find a home for them together because the two of them are meant to be.”

With the buzz that Agatha and Jukebox made online, the staff at Pima Animal Care Center are hopeful that these two captured the attention of a potential owner.

They’re all looking forward to someone that will adopt them together. With the bond that these two formed, it’s impossible to have them separated.

And good news came in fast, as social media played its role in knocking the heart of a potential owner. According to KVOA, these two dogs that formed a special bond at the shelter havE now found their forever home. They were adopted together!
