I have often thought if a relationship was going to work and become a long term relationship then the two people in it should mesh like the teeth in gears. But I have found that this isn't so. Like learning to drive a manual car there will always some grinding of the gears before the gear change becomes smooth. Then there are those days when you feel like you have just dropped the bottom out of the gear box and you kangaroo hop away from every stop. I suppose relationships are like that. Some days everything flows and other days they don't.
