This Czech grandma is an internet sensation because of her passion for flower painting.
Many people cannot wait to retire to get some well-earned rest. Some people even want to get an early retirement. And why not? The idea of being able to finally loosen up at home doesn’t exactly sound like a bad idea. After years of working, it just seems fair to reward yourself with relaxation, right?
Maybe for some, but not for the 91-Year Old Czech Anežka Kašpárková (Agnes Kašpárková). Despite her old age, Agnes doesn’t like the idea of sitting at home and not working at all.
That’s why at 91, she’s dedicated herself to hand painting her neighbor’s homes – and eventually transforming homes in the little village of Louka into one of the most stunning works of art.
Agnes used to be an agricultural worker, but she has retired a little over 30 years ago and she has been painting houses by hand since then. She said that she has learned this skill from a late friend named Manakova, who used to do the same for free. Manakova taught her. Agnes humbly said that she is merely continuing what Manakova has started.
Mostly inspired by floral designs and having ultramarine shades, the hand painted works of Agnes are truly intricate, refined, and breathtaking. The houses in the village of Louka are commonly Moravian, and a Moravian house’s spare, white walls go perfectly well with Agnes’ detailed work.
It is said that one of the spots in the village she particularly likes painting is the village chapel. She spends 10 days just to beautify it during the month of May.
Despite becoming an internet sensation, Agnes’s humility never changes regardless of her level of skill. She insists that she’s not an artist, according to her, she’s just doing what she loves doing and that she’s just trying to help decorate the world a little.
Since she has been doing this for over thirty years, the Czech grandma said that her age is already starting to make hand painting houses a little more challenging, particularly during cold months. Because of this, her hobby of updating her past work is only being done during the summer.
It’s obvious that Agnes is inherently artistic as she never plans her designs beforehand, she just let her skillful hands do the work and let her talents flow naturally.
Agnes puts such utmost importance to her work that she uses only expensive, high quality paint. She said her painted artworks would last for two years. More than simply wanting to make her village a more beautiful place, she wanted it to be beautiful for a long time.
Her works of art have become an internet sensation and earned praise from numerous people all across the world and photos of her hand painted houses have been shared by various websites and social media sites.
It might have taken Agnes years before she began pursuing her dream, but she pursued it, nonetheless. She followed her passion and focused on doing things that make her happy. More than just an inspiration, the 91-yo Czech grandma can actually encourage anyone to chase their dreams – regardless of their age.
