Puppy drags her new blanket outside to share it with a cold homeless dog

Dogs – we already know that they have much bigger hearts than ours. These beings seem to have an infinite reservoir of love within them. Sometimes, we couldn’t help but wish that we had a soul as pure as theirs.

The dog in the following story is a perfect reminder of this truth.

Meet Lana, an 8-month old puppy from Brazil who was rescued from the streets. Not long after she was found, the dog was blessed with a forever home when she was adopted by Suelen Schaumloeffel and her fiancé.

In the arms of a caring owner, the pup now has access to all the things she never had before -regular meals, a warm home, and humans who love her very much. Lana is finally living a comfortable and secure life, but she clearly hasn’t forgotten what it’s like for other dogs who aren’t as lucky as her.

When the weather became chilly in their region, Suelen bought a thicker blanket to make sure that Lana stays warm and cozy in her doghouse. However, after tucking her in one evening, Suelen had no idea that the blanket she recently purchased will benefit more than one pooch.

Suelen’s fiancé was about to leave for work the next morning when he noticed an unusual sight in their house out front. Lana was lying near their fence with her new blanket, which she had dragged outside to share with another dog out on the street.

Suelen says that she has seen that dog before near their house the day before. She couldn’t confirm if the pup was a stray, though. He would run away when she tried to get near him to check for an ID tag. But her pet seems to have befriended the pup and decided to share with him the comforts that she has.

“I thought, ‘How beautiful what she did for her friend,'” Suelen tells The Dodo. “My best four-legged friend reminded me of something so important: generosity!”

Since that incident, the couple has seen the dog from time to time, but they still weren’t successful in getting a hold of her. They’re hoping that if they catch him, they could help him find his way home if he was indeed lost. In the meantime, they have been leaving food and water for her outside their home.

If Lana could, Suelen knew that she would do everything to help her friend.

She says: “She is the nicest little dog I’ve ever met. We forget sometimes the difference we can make in someone’s life. She reminded me of this.”
