A dog missing for 5 years is happily reunited with her family

There are many animal welfare organizations in the United States, the American Humane Association is one of them, they say that there are over 10 million pets missing in the U.S. each year. Zoey, a dog who had been missing for 5 years, is a part of this alarming number. But thanks to the dedicated staff of Guilford County Animal Shelter, she is now happily reunited with her long-lost family.

Zoey arrived in the care of The Guilford County Animal Shelter last August 16, 2019, but it turned out that she had been missing for 5 years. She was brought into the shelter as a stray dog and had a microchip that could be used to trace her family. However, the shelter staff did not find any information about her owner because her microchip was unregistered.

Luckily for Zoey, she wound up in the care of a committed, compassionate, and determined people. Even though it was challenging to trace Zoey’s family, the shelter staff did not give up. They reached out to other shelters and clinics to track the one who implanted the microchip on Zoey. Their admirable dedication bore great news after a series of phone calls. Finally, they found out who Zoey’s rightful owners are.

Who would have thought that after 5 long years, Zoey would finally be reunited with her family?! It has been so long her owners must have been caught off guard to receive a call from the shelter informing them about Zoey.

Surprised as they are, Zoey’s family is more than happy with the unexpected but sweet reunion. As seen on the photos posted on the shelter’s Facebook page, the newly found dog and a member of her family shared a heartwarming reunion.

Pictured is Zoey being reunited with one of the kids in the family who just couldn’t wait for her to come through the door so she could give her a hug.” The shelter happily shared on their Facebook page. “Happy Tails Zoey and family! We could not be happier for you all!

People on Facebook who have seen Zoey’s pictures have nothing but good words and well-wishes for her, the shelter, and her family.

What a wonderful story. So glad for such a happy ending! God bless!!” A Facebook user gladly said.

“This is SO amazing! There are so many magical moments that happen at the shelter so thrilled for this family!” Another Facebook user expressed her delight in the comment section.

So wonderful. Thanks for your persistence in finding her family!” One Facebook user said, commending the admirable hard work of the shelter staff.

Micro-chipping is a solution that addresses the alarming number of missing pets in the world. Studies have shown that it greatly increases the likelihood of a pet being returned home. Also, it lasts for 25 years, offering a reliable and permanent identification to pets.

The happy and heartwarming reunion of Zoey and her family wouldn’t be possible if not for the shelter’s dedication and the microchip. The Guilford County Animal Services encourages pet owners to microchip and register their beloved pets. Their shelter microchips pets for only $10 every day from 2 PM to 3 PM.

This is the best way to ensure that if you and your pet become separated, your chance at a happy reunion can have this same result!” the animal welfare organizations advised.

Share Zoey’s incredible story that is a beautiful reminder as to why one should never lose hope!
