Depressed pup finds his spirit again when new family brings him to the beach

There’s something about the beach that can make us feel better. The calming sound of the waves, the cool breeze, the soft sand, the warm sun – there are just so many beautiful things to encounter. 

As it turns out, humans aren’t the only ones affected by the ‘vitamin sea’. It has positive effects on dogs, too.

Just like for Lou, the maltreated Italian Greyhound adopted from a dog shelter by a family. Lou’s owner said that the dog’s bad experiences from the previous owner left him timid and scared of almost everyone – and every dog. The shelter informed the family that Lou had a sad life and might take time for him to completely recover from all the traumatic experiences he’s been through.

Determined to help Lou feel better, his owners planned to take him to the beach to uplift his spirits. And not just any beach – they took him to the Hamptons for the weekend. Lou met the bulldog Buddha on their trip to the beach:

And the two immediately became pals:

Lou followed Buddha anywhere he went:

And did whatever Buddha did:

Lou enjoyed watching the waves:

And enjoyed the day in the sun:

When they went home, Lou went straight to bed, more laid back than ever:

His owners were so happy that he finally began to come out of his shell after the trip to the beach. They even snapped a picture of him practically smiling:

Dogs are innocent, lovable creatures that don’t deserve to be treated badly. They may be just ‘pets’ or ‘animals’ to some, but they are capable of love, they have feelings, and they are definitely entitled to be treated nicely.

Broken people can get better through expressing their emotions and letting out their feelings, they can have friends and families to whom they can share their pains with – but how about abused dogs? Who do they have? How can they express their pain?

They have no one. That’s why it’s our jobs as decent human beings to take care of them to the best of our abilities – just like what Lou’s new family are doing for him.
