Carrie Underwood, the 35-year-old American singer who rose to fame after winning the 4th season of American Idol in the year 2005, is warming the hearts of countless people with her uplifting song, “Love Wins.”
In her interview with the Taste of Country, the gifted musician shared the meaning behind her latest song. “I do think that we as humans are inherently good and we need to remember that. Because we’re different, that doesn’t make somebody else bad, it just makes us different,” Carrie said, explaining what inspired her to write this beautiful song.
“We wanted that song to be hopeful and to maybe make somebody stop and think about that.” The singer-songwriter also explained that she wanted to write a song that will remind people to believe in one another despite their differences and the bad things happening in this world.
“We weren’t trying to speak negatively about our world, because we live in an amazing world, but I feel like we get really caught up in surface things and I feel like, in this world, we’re quick to get angry at each other,” Carrie hopes that her latest song will encourage people to be more understanding of one another.
“I personally think that we’re all different for a reason,” Underwood continued. “I feel like if you just sit down and talk to somebody who’s not like you and keep it calm, we can all learn from each other.” The Grammy awardee singer embraces the celebration of diversity and uniqueness so much she also teaches her kid to live with empathy and compassion.
“I want him to form his own opinions about things and I want him to talk to people and come to people with love… I feel like that’s an important trait we all need more of, but definitely, something that we need to teach our children to love each other and love others.” Carrie said.
Her newest uplifting song starts by describing the crimes, unfortunate accidents, and politics which are all dividing the country. “Politics and prejudice: How the hell did it ever come to this? When everybody’s got to pick a side, it don’t matter if you’re wrong or right.”
Although the song starts by painting an unpleasant picture of what’s happening in the world, the song progresses with a hopeful and optimistic message. “I believe you and me are sisters and brothers and I…I believe we’re made to be here for each other… And we’ll never fall if we walk hand and hand. Put a world that seems broken back together again. And I…I believe, in the end, love wins.”
The talented singer-songwriting admitted in the interview that she felt scared of writing Love Wins for fear of being misinterpreted. Fortunately, the positive message of the song she wanted to write won her heart and motivated her to complete it.
“Above all, we want people to feel hopeful,” Carrie further explained. “I want to make sure people see this for what it is and what we’re trying to say.”
True to the lyrics of Carrie Underwood’s beautiful song, there is still hope to make this world beautiful! If we accept the fact that we are all unique individuals yet our differences do not make us any less human than one another, then there would be no room for hate. The world will only be filled with love, compassion, respect, and understanding!
“Love will; love can; love still; love wins!”
