Here comes the bride, all dressed in white—with her adorable 2-year-old Labrador Retriever outfitted for the occasion! Blushing bride Kristen Dupree’s “first-look” photoshoot was made even more special. Her dog, Zeke, shared her spotlight when the furry pooch posed for the camera in Dupree’s dream wedding.
The 24-year-old registered nurse who works in labor and delivery is getting married to Duncan, 25. Her soon-to-be-husband did not want to see Kristen in her wedding dress during her ‘first look’ photos. He wanted to witness her bride for the first time the old-fashioned way—not until Kristen is walking down the aisle.
“Duncan decided pretty early on that he wanted to see me for the first time walking down the aisle with my father, rather than a ‘first-look.’ In passing, we joked about me doing one with Zeke.” Kristen said in an interview with TODAY.
The wedding was held at the Izenstone in Spanish Fort, Alabama, on the 8th of November. Kristen made sure her trusty companion was included in the pictures of her big day. “On the wedding day, I started to get some pre-ceremony jitters and really wanted to see Zeke prior to walking down the aisle,” Kristen said. The cute Labrador retriever was hanging with Duncan and the groomsman when the matron of honor fetched him for the bride.
Like an ordinary bride preparing the most anticipated moment of her life, Kristen’s busy day was filled with occasional jitters and photoshoots while making sure everything is falling into order. Having Zeke beside her helped the bride-to-be keep everything together.
Perri Farlow from Farlow Photography did an excellent job of capturing Zeke’s adorable charm and his bond with Kristen. “My bridesmaids, mother, and mother-in-law were the only ones to see the photoshoot. They all had huge smiles on their faces. We are all dog people, and they knew how happy I was to see my boy!” Kristen said.
It’s not a surprise why the couple and Zeke are inseparable.
“Duncan and I bought Zeke together during my last semester of college at the University of Alabama. He was bought to be a companion for me while I was finishing nursing school, and Duncan was working in Spanish Fort, Alabama.” Kristen told TODAY. Anyone who knows the soon-to-be newlyweds knows how much the couple loves their charming Labrador retriever.
Wherever Kristen and Duncan are, Zeke is always at their side. Family beach trips, hunting camp weekends, and even while boating—the Labrador retriever will always be within earshot. “He is one of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet, and he makes every adventure better!” Kristen added.
During the wedding reception, Zeke stayed inside the suite of the groom and slept. Duncan’s groomsman didn’t forget to bring him rolls and green beans for snack while everyone was celebrating. The lovable pooch even made a few appearances on the dance floor. Zeke’s dance moves are more than enough to make any dog lover squeal in absolute delight.
Kristen was blown away by the reactions she and Zeke received from people social media who saw her first look photos. “I was blown away by all the comments and shares of the post. I’m glad people thought it was cute and brought a smile to their face.” Kristen commented.
And just like that, Zeke got thousands of people who love him even more—but not as much as his mom and dad!
