Children are their parents’ sweet, adorable, and charming bundle of joy. And since they are still young, it is only normal for children to be nurtured and protected by their parents.
But from time to time, children take the world by storm by showing that they too are capable of teaching us a thing or two about life.
Though young and innocent, children have a big heart that have so much love to give. And you’ll be surprised at the great things they are capable of doing to make the people around them happy.
Take the case of the 10-year-old boy from South Africa, Vaughn Fish, who wholeheartedly spent the money he had saved for the happiness of someone else. And the lucky one who received his gift is no other than the gas station attendant he is very fond of – Tony.
According to Mandy Fish, Vaughn’s kindhearted and supportive mom, the two met each other at the gas station in KwaZulu-Natal.
Tony, the gas station attendant, may not have known Vaughn personally, but that did not stop him from caring for the little boy when he noticed that the kid was under the weather.

“Vaughn was very sick, and within moments the attendant had him laughing and smiling.” Mandy recalled the first meeting of her son and Tony that touched her heart.
Tony’s friendly personality and thoughtfulness paved the friendship that grew between him and the 10-year-old Vaughn. After their memorable and heartfelt encounter, Vaughn regularly visits the station to catch up with his newfound friend.
“Since then we regularly visit the station and Vaughn eagerly looks out for his new friend.” Mandy shared in a Facebook post.

It was during one of their regular chitchats that the gas station attendant learned about Vaughn’s outdoor activity- biking. And with the little boy being familiar of the prices in bicycle warehouse, Tony wondered if there’s a bike he can buy without breaking the bank.
“Tony always takes the time to talk to Vaughn about the various bikes we haul to Giba and back and listens so obligingly to him as he chatters away.” Mandy continued.
Wanting to help his friend, Vaughn agreed to look out for a reasonably priced bike that would be perfect for Tony.
But a few days later, the 10-year-old little boy wanted to do more for his friend. Instead of simply looking for a bike his friend can very much afford, the generous little boy wanted to buy it for him and give it as a special present instead.
“Vaughn has been collecting all the silver money around the house for months, saving for a ‘holiday’ for us. One night he came to me and asked if I really wanted a holiday and upon asking why he said he would rather put his savings towards helping Tony get his bike.” Mandy added, supporting Vaughn’s decision to sacrifice their ‘holiday’ savings to help out his friend.

And so, the mother and son cracked their piggy bank open and collected Vaughn’s savings to buy Tony a bicycle he can use for his daily transportation. Touched by the big heart and generosity of Vaughn, the proud mother shared their story on her Facebook post.
Together with the heartwarming photos of Vaughn giving Tony’s special gift, Mandy wrote:
“…Our children make us proud on so many occasions but today my heart and his is so full of the joy at the kind man’s face as he, rather stunned accepted his gift from this 10 year old boy…”

On the same Facebook post, Mandy wrote a message for Vaughn years from now, hoping that the little boy will grow up into an adult who is kind and compassionate just like he is now.
“Prawn Fish it will be years until your mom allows you on Facebook but when you do see this post, know that today of all your days on this planet so far my heart is the fullest and most proud of you it’s ever been. Keep being kind, and generous, with your time and money and remember bringing joy to others can bring just as much joy to yourself.”
