The development of moral values in children starts in the home and continued in school, where the process of learning becomes more formal. One of the most important values instilled in children is empathy, which enables kids to identify with and understand the wants, needs, and feelings of those around them.
Through his act of kindness, one kid from Brazil perfectly exemplified this value when he helped one animal in need.
João recently visited a neighbor’s house where a litter of kittens had been born a few weeks earlier. The kid is a huge animal lover, which is primarily the reason why he bothered to pay a visit to the neighbor’s house.
The boy was delighted to see the little kittens playing with each other, however, he noticed that one of them did not participate in the fun. The kitten was struggling and seemed to have some form of disability that prevented her from walking.
“He was very sad to see the other kittens playing, and that she could not play,” Rogéria wrote on Facebook.
The boy went home and started brainstorming for ideas on how he can help the poor kitten. Finally, he thought of a brilliant solution. With the help of a friend who lent him some materials, João decided to build a customized wheelchair for the kitten.
As soon as the makeshift wheelchair was attached to, the cat began walking and rolling on her own! The wheelchair, as it turns out, was the perfect fit for the kitten’s small frame.
“She was walking in just a few minutes,” Rogéria said, adding that seeing her son’s happiness at being able to help was the best part. The proud mother recorded as the kitten took her first steps, – which were initially unsure – but eventually became confident upon realizing that she could now walk.
With this thoughtful gesture from João, it is certain that he and this kitten will be lifelong friends! They are extremely lucky to have found each other, and we truly hope that João will keep and spread this kindness in his heart until he grows old.
