Auckland boy secretly rings 111 to invite police to his birthday party — they showed up!

A 5-year-old boy’s birthday wish came true after the police officers of Counties Manukau in New Zealand dropped by his doorstep. Apparently, Zachary, the birthday boy, wanted to have a police-themed birthday party. Hence, without his mother’s permission, Zachary decided to invite the policemen himself.

How did the little boy managed to invite the police men? Well, while his mother, Sarah, was preparing for his big day, the young boy rang 111 (New Zealand’s 911) multiple times in order to personally invite the people he look-up to come in his birthday. Unfortunately, none of his numerous phone calls was ever picked-up.

Little did the birthday celebrant know that a concerned 111 operator rang back and got hold of his unsuspecting mother, Sarah.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry. That was my nearly five-year-old son, he was just telling me that he wanted to invite police to his police-themed fifth birthday party,” Sarah told the operator, quite embarrassed for the little fiasco her son did.

Laughing over Zachary’s blunder, the understanding operator simply said, “I don’t know if we’ll be able to make but it I’ll put it in.”

But the police officers were able to come! On the day of Zachary’s birthday celebration, a knock on their door was heard. The young boy was more than surprised and thrilled to see his hero, the police men standing outside their doorstep.

Nervous and shy, Zachary took a peek at his surprise birthday guests and was hesitant to talk to them. However, when the police officers gave him a stuffed K9 toy as a gift, Zachary easily warmed up and invited them to come in.

The off-duty police officers who made time for Zachary’s birthday ensured that the young boy will have an unforgettable birthday blast! They came dressed up with their full riot gears which amazed Zachary and his friends.

Not only that, but the police men let Zachary try their respected uniform, and ride and explore the insides of their police patrol car. On top of that, an eagle helicopter flew over to the ecstatic young boy!

“That is the most awesome thing you could have done for that gorgeous boy. Brought a tear to my eye,” Sarah expressed how grateful she is for the kind gesture of the police officers.

Although the off-duty police officers granted Zachary’s wish, still they are warning other children not to copy what the young boy did. “While our off-duty staff were happy to bring Zachary’s birthday wish to life. We don’t encourage kids calling 111 to invite the police to their birthday,” the police force said in their official statement.
