Adalia Rose, is an 13-year-old charming and adorable girl from Austin, Texas. If there are two things that make her different from children of her age, those are: (1) she has Progeria and (2) she is an internet sensation!
Adalia Rose showed early sign of Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria syndrome before she turned 1 year old. Her genetic condition is highly characterized for accelerating once ageing. Thus, despite her young age, Adalia has early signs of skin aging, short in stature, and suffers from loss of hair.
“When Adalia was born, I think it was she was like a month old and they weren’t happy with her growth… She was diagnosed at maybe like three months old. That’s when the real changes started happening. She started losing her hair and her little veins started showing up more and her skin started thinning out a lot more.” Natalia Pallante, Adalia’s mother recalled.
Despite being diagnosed with Progeria, Adalia showed to the world that not even a rare genetic disease such as hers could stop her from being an internet diva!
“I guess I am a diva, because I always get what I want!” Adalia proudly exclaimed.
True to her words, Adalia is nothing short of a Diva. She is a star in her own right. With over 1 million of subscribers on Youtube, it is safe to say that people around the world love seeing Adalia and learning more about her life.
“Having a social media superstar, it’s crazy, especially when we are out in public — you know lot of people recognise her.” Ryan, Adalia’s supportive dad, added.
Adalia’s Youtube channel is filled with videos about her daily life. But just like any ordinary girl of today’s generation, Adalia also films herself while giving make-up tutorial. Sometimes, she also share videos of herself showing off her talent in singing and arts!
“She sees herself as being different.” Natalia shared Adalia’s perspective of herself.
But, it is not always rainbow and butterfly for the 13-year-old kid.
“Sometimes there’s days where she says ‘I wish I was taller, I wish I had hair, I wish I looked like everybody else, I wish I could do what everybody else can do.'” Natalia revealed.
However, Adalia does not let these negative thoughts overpower her positive outlook in life. Adalia makes sure to steer away from such negativeness and bounce back to her vibrant and hopeful attitude.
“But then she’ll be like ‘Who needs hair anyways, I have a bunch of wigs, I can have different hair everyday!’” Natalia added.
Progeria is a genetic disorder that has no cure. Due to the rapid ageing of people with Progeria, they have a short life expectancy. Although they may live up to 30 years old, on average, most people with Progeria does not live pass 13.
“It can be hard some days, especially at night. Once everyone has gone to sleep and I’m just thinking about the day… Just thankful for another day.” Natalia tearfully admitted on an interview.
“We don’t talk about life expectancy or any possibility of what could happen to her… We just live day by day.” Ryan added.
Initially, Natalia created Adalia’s Facebook and Youtube account in order to document her growth and progress. But because of Adalia’s positive outlook in life and vibrant personality, people grew fond of her and looked forward on seeing her Youtube videos.
Watching the adorable and charming 13-year-old kid do her make-up, dance around, and goof with her family leaves no shred of doubt why she is such an internet super star. After all, Adalia has a charm that is simply hard to resist.
“Her followers say good things to her all the time, that you are so cute, I love you you’re so beautiful, I love the way you dance, I love your videos. They have constant comments of how she’s inspirational and how she doesn’t let anything stop her and they’re right. She loves those comments.” Natalia shared, happy that her wonderful Adalia is serving as an inspiration to people across the globe.
Adalia may have a rare genetic disorder that makes her age rapidly. But she sure knows how to live her days to the fullest!
