Accept Me As I Am Or Walk Away

There comes a time when you have to stand up and say: This is me damn it! I look the way I look, think the way I think, feel the way I feel, love the way I love! I am a whole complex package. Take me… or leave me. Accept me – or walk away! Do not try to make me feel like less of a person, just because I don’t fit your idea of who I should be and don’t try to change me to fit your mold. If I need to change, I alone will make that decision. When you are strong enough to love yourself 100%, good and bad – you will be amazed at the opportunities that life presents you. — Stacey Charter

  1. Lyn McDonald that is my thought exactly. I choose to give to others because that is who I want to be. I want a lifetime of giving as my legacy and really it fills me up with a bright light that nothing can touch. But those who do not give back I do have the right and will loose respect for them. I will call them out and send them on their way. They can remain any way they want but I will call them out regardless. Because that is who I am.

  2. Lyle — I was going to post something about how it’s ironic you, of all people, would be critical of an attitude you already display aggressively and in spades. But I’ll just say that a little introspection might do you a world of good, here. You’re smart as hell, but frankly, the way you treat others is indicative of some issues that need resolving.

  3. What if who you are is a horrible person? Should we still accept you as who you are or are you just justifying your awfulness and expecting people to accept it? See, that’s why trite aphorisms like this are stupid. It’s a way for awful people to excuse being awful.
